This performance is the best for so many reasons!
1. At this point Rachel and Finn are engaged and are incredibly happy together.
2. Finn OWNED this performance and Rachel was just so proud of the love of her life.
3. The other two power couples other than Finchel (Klaine and Brittana having their lil moments).
4. Everyone looks their best along with the kickass costumes, makeup and hair.
5. The choreography is a delight to the eyes.
6. It has all the main new directioners along with Blaine, Sam and Rory (I love Rory and wished he was there even more) and is their last performance together (also we are the champions)
7. It's right before the seasons went a lil downhill and marked the end of an Era. They could have literally ended with this, showing them winning, Finchel getting married and everyone graduating and/or becoming seniors.
8. Everybody just looks so happy, energetic and confident.
9. Many tiny yet cute moments like Mike's walk, troubletones on the staircase, etc.

Yup. Except for the part where the pedophile who collected child sexual assault materials was front and center dancing. I mean, they didn’t KNOW that when it was filmed but let’s not pretend that that’s not what was happening. If you read Naya's book, she said Cory had a hard time with the dancing for this number and was getting frustrated. So they had everyone doing the dances while he was just moving to the beat and shining. Cory did amazing in this number, even if he had a hard time with the dance, he owned the stage. Everyone did amazing. Best competition performance of season 3.

Yeah, there are a couple of moments where you are like, why are Cory and Lea moving around so much, but when you know that it was because Cory was struggling and that it was done to help him out, it makes sense, and it doesn't take away from the performance at all.

I've noticed this from the beginning, Cory wasn't really a singer initially and he was learning it just for glee and his voice just became soo amazing by season 3, but he honestly always had the voice for rock and blues right from the beginning. This song seemed like it was made for him to sing. All the other rock covers he did were like that too, like when they covered kiss and stuff. His voice was perfect for rock.

I'm so glad that this performance was actually win worthy. Like we don't have to suspend our disbelief at all to believe that they one for this performance and not for their other performances. It is truly the best New Direction song.

Everything about this performance is perfection. This is a winner. The choice of this song, the story telling, and the stage set up was pristine. The choreography is complex yet fitting to the song to the point that every person has a role and every thing is in place. The different mini stages and the steps and how everyone move is on point. The vocals showcased the strength of every main vocalist. Kurts pitch, Rachel’s thickness, Mercedes piercing high, Santana’s mellowness, and Finns raspiness. Even the little jump that Mike did at the end is just glee at it’s finest.

Seasons 4, 5, and 6 weren't bad, but you can't compete with the energy the originals had. The breakdown never fails to make me emotional. When Finn starts that "we're gonna go all the way tonight," I get shivers. Rachel, Artie, Quinn, Britanny, Mike Chang, etc. Finn... RIP Cory. Glee really did help me a lot when I felt lost.

@Wayward.Winchester67 What cory did isnt a good example and thats for sure, but he really tried his best, I think he even was sober for a bunch of years, and his adiction was part of some past trauma, he sadly passed away losing a very difficult fight were he tried his best and we cant blame him for that, meanwhile Mark commited some horrible things, afecting lots of people with traumas that will go for life, and when he was sentenced he took his own life not to pay for the actions he made, there's a big difference, also Im not saying that we should romantizice being in an adiction because of past traumas, but for what everyone has said Cory seemed like a great person with a huge heart and a pretty sweet soul, May he find peace

In your face Jesse St. James. Remember back in season 2 when you said Finn sucked? Hands down the best performance by a male lead! He literally gave his soul. And he did that for the team. That's why I loved Finn Hudson. Despite his flaws he always was a team player. And it hurts that nobody acknowledged his many talents and his dreams kept crushing. Not okay with the direction the writers chose for this character in seasons 3 and 4

I think it may feel that way because Cory passed away before we could see Finn go on to become a teacher and Marry Rachel. This is my favorite Finn performance by far, but he wasn’t a performer the way Leah, Chris and Darren were. It would have been unrealistic for him to get into NYADA with them. He wasn’t a city guy either. I didn’t like that weird him kissing Emma/ Will Fued but other than that, I think they were taking that character in the right direction.

One of my favorite parts about Glee is watching Cory try his best to keep up with the complicated dance numbers but this performance he actually kept up without struggle . I think that's what made this performance so believable, the glee club desperately wanted to win and they all clearly gave it their all, even the person who can't dance. This performance was definitely Corys best, you can really see how far he had come as both a singer and a dancer compared to his season 1 performances. This performance is also a lot funnier to watch after reading Nayas book and finding out that Cory kept saying he was going to throw up during rehearsal because it was so gruelling lol.

I think one of the best vocal performances was the nationals that turned out to be a tribute to Cory. Bland choreography aside they really sang their hearts out with his favorite songs. This performance was easily Cory's best and definitely the best performance for this cast.

This is why the New Directions came first. They made the best of every single voice coming together, every main character got a solo or duet, however brief. As much as I love Wade/Unique, you can't have the entire performance on one voice. The New Directions gave the girls a number, and even brought in Quinn and Tina. Rachel then brought the house down, and finally they do this number. In my opinion this is the peak of Glee, this is what it was building towards the entire first three seasons.
Edit: 2:45 Kurt and Blaine are dancing together up the top left. I love it so much.

One of my favourite small things about this performance is that, whenever Kurt's on camera, he's moving. Even if no one else around him is dancing, he's having a little dance with himself and I love it because little unchoreographed dances and stuff like that is what shows that the New Directions generally have fun performing.

@btd i agree!! i think that the writers were trying too hard to push finn to sing a bunch of songs that (like this one) displayed his higher range and i didn’t really like it. but there are a few songs here and there that he has some pretty low notes in and i think his voice sounds WAY better that way.

What I really love about this song is how every single one of the best singers actually get their time in the spotlight. The likes of Curt, Blaine, Santana, Puck and Mercedes all got a couple of seconds in the spotlight before Cory Monthieth and Lea Michele absolutely stole the show!
Arguably the best Glee preformance ever done, GOD i miss them so much!

True. Because the skirts start from the waist below instead of lower chest like they usually did before this, I call it pregnant dress.

No hate to pregnant ladies, it looks pretty on them but when pregger wear it, i dont think it’s necessary for them to wear that style when they easily could’ve designed better.

What I find really good is the fact that you can see why they won with THIS performance and not another one. You can really see their evolution throughout the whole series. At first they were good but not champions, and with every performance they got better and better until this one. And, in my opinion, this is by far their best performance ever (I mean the WHOLE performance, with Edge of Glory and It's all coming back to me) everything was perfect, it was so energetic. So yeah, I can really see why they won, it's not unrealistic at all, and that's what makes it good.

Revisiting this performance because it is my favorite and BY FAR their best. It just means so much... After watching them not win year after year, it was like they put everything into this performance and it shows. It doesn’t even seem like they’re “acting.” This performance was a winning one. This was such a happy time on Glee... and when they went back to school and everyone was so happy for them... I miss that time. Before we lost Cory and Naya... a happier time.

Cory put EVERYTHING to this performance. The soul, voice and PASSION he poured into this is the main reason they won nationals (if you ask me).

He actually had no experience before Glee, and then came on the most important moment of the show and won it for every single unbelievably talented cast member. If he hadn't past away, I actually think he could be a huge talent by now because the development of his voice is the craziest thing I have ever heard.

Thank you Cory for bothering to make this show as iconic as it was.

If you check the studio recording of Paradise By The Dashboard Light, it’s actually a few seconds shorter than the on air performance. So this is one of the few songs on Glee where the on air performance was actually the entire studio recording.

Literally from 3:00 till the end I’m in literal TEARS. The way Cory is singing is so passionate that Lea is slightly breaking into character to point at him. The back ad libs from Amber are out of this world. As someone who watched from beginning to end this one was so emotional for me to watch.
