In Daddy Yankee's song "Puerto Rico te la dedico," the lyrics are focused on the nightlife and party scene in Puerto Rico, particularly in the context of the reggaeton music culture. The song starts off with Daddy Yankee rapping in a call and response fashion with DJ Blas, spitting verses of guayando (grinding) and rapando (rapping) in a playful and energetic tone. The chorus then comes in, describing the party atmosphere with the use of various colloquial terms, "los perros son los yakos" (the guys are the dogs) and "las gatas son las yakas" (the girls are the cats), and emphasizing the infectiousness of the music with "takata takata."
As the song progresses, Daddy Yankee describes a scene where he meets up with some friends in the bocachica area of Puerto Rico and encounters some attractive females. He then tells them to come along and party in different parts of the country, including Jaragua, Santiago, Guachupita, Villa Consuelo, Villa Juana, and Cristo Rey. The song ends with Daddy Yankee and DJ Blas performing their call and response chants once again, as the partygoers dance and grind to the music.
Overall, the lyrics of "Puerto Rico te la dedico" capture the vibrant and exciting culture of the reggaeton scene in Puerto Rico, with its emphasis on partying, dancing, and having a good time. It also emphasizes the importance of friends and community in this culture, with Daddy Yankee inviting his friends to party with him and make memories together.
