The lyrics to Dariush's song "Ashofteh Bazaar" express feelings of longing, pain, and confusion. The singer talks about feeling lost and adrift in a tumultuous world that seems to be repeating itself endlessly. The first verse begins with the lines "My heart feels tight, my heart is burning from a garden that is burning." This can be interpreted as the singer feeling a sense of pain and frustration from something that is lost or missing, perhaps a love or a sense of purpose. He goes on to say that there is no relief from this feeling, no companionship or support from anyone, and that he is left feeling "ashofteh," or disturbed and agitated.
The second verse reflects on a life that has been filled with both success and failure, but ultimately feels empty and unsatisfying. "We spent our whole lives making and breaking things, except for the burden of regret," the singer says, lamenting the fact that they never truly understood what they were searching for. The final stanza of the song describes the world as a chaotic and confusing place, where everything seems to be falling apart and nothing makes sense. Despite this, the singer still feels a sense of loyalty to the world, acknowledging that it is a flawed and difficult place to live.
