The song "Day After Tomorrow" by Hikaru Utada is a heartfelt ballad about remorse, love and the difficulty of being honest. The lyrics express the singer's regret for causing trouble to someone they care about ("I'm sorry, I've made you worry again"), their struggle to be truthful and authentic ("I couldn't be honest today either"), and the overwhelming joy they feel when they think of the person they love ("It hurts so much that I can't express how much I love you"). The singer also acknowledges their own loneliness ("I was always alone, forgetting my tears") and their need for emotional connection ("My heart is trembling now"). The chorus, with its catchy melody and repetition of "gomen ne" (I'm sorry), adds to the emotional weight of the song, while the instrumental arrangement, with its piano and strings, enhances the bittersweet mood.
