In 1991 the band was completed by the guitarist Lars Lundevall. The new line-up recorded these albums:
Varme mennesker (Warm People) (1991), Neste sommer (Next summer) (1993), Mere (More) (1994), Sent og tidlig (Late and early) (1995), Stakkars (Miserable) (1997), Kast alle papirene (Throw away all the paper) (1999) and Midt i begynnelsen (In the middle of the beginning) (2002). Their debut LP "Suser avgårde" (1986), is regarded as one of their most popular records. The lyrics are very popular because they are very naïve & philosophic. They released their final record in 2002; "Midt i begynnelsen". In 2005, they released a compilation which is named "Festen er ikke over... det er kake igjen." ("The party ain't over... There's more cake left"). New album out now: "Trist å være glad" 2011.
Adeleine
deLillos Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Jeg kan se deg der nå
Alt går så sakte rundt
Det er for varmt her å
Adeleine Adeleine
Var ikke stort vi fikk gjort
Her finnes bare sand
Nå tennes stjernene
Ta meg til et annet land
Adeleine Adeleine
I ditt hår vil jeg bo
Adeleine Adeleine
Var ikke stort vi fikk gjort
The lyrics of deLillos's song "Adeleine" capture a sense of longing and a desire for escape from the present moment. The opening verse describes a feeling of isolation and disorientation, as the singer sees Adeleine "far out in the blue" and things seem to move "slowly around" them. The heat is oppressive, perhaps adding to the sense of lethargy and ennui.
The chorus provides a direct address to Adeleine, with a repeated refrain of "Adeleine Adeleine / We didn't accomplish much." This line suggests a sense of regret or missed opportunities – perhaps the singer and Adeleine had planned to do something together but were unable to follow through with their plans.
The second verse continues the atmosphere of emptiness and desolation, with no other humans in sight and only sand for company. But the sense of alienation is temporarily lifted as the stars begin to light up the sky, providing some small measure of beauty and transcendence. The final repetition of the chorus contains a new line, with the singer expressing a desire to "live in your hair" – a romantic and fanciful image that suggests a desire to escape to a more idyllic world.
Overall, "Adeleine" presents a mood of listlessness and disappointment, but also suggests the possibility of small moments of connection and beauty.
