Gratitude
deM atlaS Lyrics

Gratitude can't get you nowhere
Now my love is going away, going away
I got an attitude like you ain't seen yeah
Now my love is going away, going away
Yeah

I try to be like somebody (Whoo)
I already was (Uh)
And I don't give a fuck (Whoo uh)
I just wanted them to like me
For who I am
I don't give a damn

Now I said my love is gone
I don't know how I'll carry on
I know I've made mistakes
Well I don't really owe 'em praise
Bricks to loose and can full of gasoline
Cigarettes and Dramamine
Feels like my soul is black
On this road and I won't look back

Gratitude can't get you nowhere
Now my love is going away, going away
I got an attitude like you ain't seen yeah
Now my love is going away, going away

I try to be like somebody
I already was
And I dont give a fuck (Whoo)
I just wanted them to like me
For who I am
I just need a friend

Made my bed
And now I lay
Outside is where I used to play
Nobody comes around
When I'm feeling down
And no one knows how long it takes
For someone's will to break
But what I know for sure
There's something more than this place
I'm on my way home
Back to you
Hate to win
But I love to lose
I don't need a friend
All alone is where I been
Your love is shallow
One loves their shadow
Kiss of death
Loss of breathe
You were here and then you left

Gratitude it used to be here
Now my love is going away, going away (Yeah)
I got an attitude like you ain't seen yeah
Now my love is going away, going away

Hello stranger
Hello stranger
Hello stranger
Hello stranger
Come on
Hello stranger
Come on
Hello stranger
Come on
Hello stranger
Come on (Whoo)
Hello stranger
Come on (Yeah)
Hello stranger
Come on (Ooh)
Hello stranger

Come on (Whoo)
Hello stranger

Overall Meaning

The song Gratitude by deM atlaS explores themes of loss, heartbreak, and loneliness. The opening lines of the chorus emphasize the futility of gratitude, suggesting that expressing appreciation cannot change a person's current circumstances. The repetition of the phrase "Now my love is going away, going away" further emphasizes the theme of loss and heartbreak. The artist then goes on to describe his attitude as being unique and unmatched, possibly as a defense mechanism against rejection or abandonment. He expresses a desire for acceptance, but at the same time asserts his individuality, declaring that he doesn't care if others like him or not.

The verse delves deeper into the artist's feelings of isolation and desperation. He talks about wanting to be accepted for who he is, but feeling like he has to change to be liked. The repetition of "I don't give a damn" seems to be an attempt to convince himself that he doesn't need validation from others. The artist's pain is palpable in the lines "I know I've made mistakes, well I don't really owe 'em praise," suggesting that he has been hurt before and may be struggling with feelings of guilt or regret. The imagery in the lines "Bricks to loose and can full of gasoline, cigarettes and Dramamine" is dark and unsettling, possibly an allusion to self-destructive tendencies or substance abuse.

Because Rhymesayers is not part of the establishment...and when you create great art that touches people then you're "required" to give most of it to the established record labels. It's part of the economy that they built for themselves. Seriously. Short answer: because real talent decreases "their" profits. Plain and simple. Cut and dry.

True story about Tupac's Makavelli and why it only contained 11 songs even though the previous albums were twice that. One of the major corporations that control all bought out his contract from Death Row Records (which, was a CIA front to launder money and guns through Compton. Suge was on the CIA payroll for 17 years during which he committed 4 violent felonies that would've locked him up for 20 to life but never received more than 4 months house arrest...until he ran someone over and the company turned their back as he was of no use to them anymore and went away to prison. That's actually why he was so flagrantly violent. He had protection...but, I digress. All info from FOIA docs) but, they bought out his contract with the expressed motive to censor his music.

When Tupac learned of this, knowing he only owed them one album, he sat down and wrote Makavelli in 3 days. 2 months later he was assassinated in Vegas (the vehicle behind the vehicle behind his had 2 FBI agents in it. FOIA) and 2 months later Makavelli was released containing only 11 of the 22 tracks that he wrote for it.

Fact: Tupac Shakur's "Thug" image was an act. He was actually a new age civil rights leader that at the age of 17 became the youngest person to serve as National Director of the Black Panther Party/New Afrikan Party until the age of 19. Assassinated civil right's leader Huey Newton (original founder of the BBP) was the person that introduced Tupac to the Digital Underground in order to begin to create his thug image so that the inner city youth would respect him and listen to his message, which was one of honor, respect, loyalty, truth...etc.

The reason his albums were one party song and then a message song is how he communicated his message. You hook them with the party song and then in between you deliver your message through tracks like Dear Mama, keep your head up, and so many others.

THUG LIFE stands for The Hate U Give Little Infants Fucks Everyone

I digressed, but, for good reason...do you see how it works?

Talent off the chart. Just wish he didn’t feel so bad
I hate the injustices in this world but be of good cheer Christ Jesus has overcome the world

I found this song by accident looking for the awesome Christian song titled “Gratitude” also by
Brandon Lake, anew to me artist who is also an incredible talented singer performer Brother.

Way different sound than any one around, pure notes, raw emotion,
his voice and his song gratitude
Can soothe the soul and bring peace and stir up strength in our
Jah, Oh how we need that today brothers and sisters.

I wish they had let see the foot movement in this but those were happy feet and not suited for his emotions in song l guess.
I pray for all the people going through pain of this world

Just remember we got a new one coming!

Saw this guy live with Atmosphere last month and he’s so dope. He dances around the stage like a modern James Brown, but his rhymes and voice draw you in and stay with you. Best show I’ve ever been too.

@GR33Nfumes

This album I preordered on iTunes because it was released on my birthday this album was a good healing for me in that specific time of year at the time

@notryan2496

Where did you see them? I saw them play together in California maybe a year before that, somewhere between LA and Monterey in a small ass old theatre, they just kicked it with everyone and played a killer fucking show!

@katienenadich6807

Every song of his becomes a new song that I love. I search for music that moves me and he always moves me. I can't wait to get to a show to see him live again, he's amazing live!

@tulaisalive

And he usually is around after his performance, I'm grateful I've seen him live and that I've been able to meet him twice

@mikeyboi7206

I'm sorry but can someone please tell me why this dude hasn't blown tf up already? Sooo DOPE!!! Amazing voice man. This and "Bad Loves Company" are the best in my opinion :)

@LOQUITAA2

Because not all the songs are like this.

@dooberson

Because he doesn’t use auto-tune. Lol

@mikebanks2176

Nobody knows how to appreciate raw talent anymore.
The image makers and critics tell people what to like and most people follow.
