@@maruoaThat's mostly due to the fact that the US is not built to be walkable. The US is, in comparison, a young country and in it#s early days the automobile was introduced and thus the US got shaped by that more than most other countries.

That's the real problem. People don't walk 2 blocks for anything because most often they literally can't without endagering themselves so they drive instead.

That being said the public transportation is a good point but it can only be applied in cities or dense urban areas, atleast in a sense that people avoid their own cars. Out in the countryside this just isn't going to happen anytime soon since not even european countries can get this right.

I live in the countryside in Europe and one of my family members has to drive around 30 minutes to work with a car every day and then 30 minutes back at the end. Now they could use public transportation but if they were to do that it would take them around 2 1/2 hours to get there which is a ridiculous increase in time.
This gets even worse because even tho they use a car they still have to get up at 4:30 am and get out the house at 5:30 am to get there on time and that early there isn't even any public transit to begin with.

So yeah in cities this works but outside of cities it doesn't really work that well, the more remote you get the worse it gets and you can't force people to live in cities or dense urban areas.

Hi there, I understand, it's a big country. But our civilisation is based on greed, not coooperation and respect for nature.

The time has come to organize our society differently. It's possible to invest in a dense network of trains, ecological public transport. I believe it will happen. This will also bring people together. Car-based community , especially in the US, made people estranged from each other. Locked in their cars, where they spend so much time , they don't meet on public transport like in other countries (except in cities), they stopped talking and interacting and understanding each other.

The system has to change. When people return to living together as a community, respecting and caring for each member of society, like it was in tribal communities, we will return to living in peace and harmony with nature. Many people are waking up to see this all over the world now.

We cannot go on living as we are now.
All the best.

@EewZEE Look, as I've grown, I've realized that it most of the time isn't worth my time to stand up for people online of which they don't require me to stand up for them. With the specific things you brought up however I must say I am at a loss of any logic you could've possibly used to reach that conclusion.

First things first I think that you would need to establish what your definition of wise is because all of the things you listed do not inherently make Dr. Peterson unwise.

Now I'll address the actual points you brought up. Firstly regarding his license being revoked it is currently being done, it has not gone through to my knowledge, therefor it is not finalized, and his license remains. He stopped being a clinician when you became popular on the internet and realized that that could have a negative impact on his work and patients, which you could certainly make an argument that that decision is the decision one would make if they were WISE. As for the actual revoking of his license, it is being conducted by a politically fueled government backed institution. The decision to revoke his license came purely from political justification, all of which came from people who were not his actual patients. I could go into how this is the exact type of stuff that Dr. Peterson has been speaking about in regards to the issue with modern day western governments especially, once again leading to a conclusion of him being WISE but this is going to be a long enough essay as it is.

The opioid addiction, while I will certainly concede that that is not a symbol of wisdom (there is an argument you can become wise if you manage to overcome your addiction but I'll be charitable and not base my argument off of that). The reasoning behind it though is because this man, who I truly believe by all of the work that I have seen from him is honestly just trying to do his best at helping as many people as he possibly can, got thrust into the public spotlight and instantly had a target on his back due to people disagreeing with his politics and therefor deeming his entire existence to be an awful thing that should be shamed. Legitimately try and imagine if you woke up tomorrow and almost every news outlet wrote stories on how the actions that you take and understand to be correct are dangerous and lead to mass suffering, I don't care how confident you are that will get to your head and in turn in a sustained moment of weakness Dr. Peterson developed an addiction, which he then went on to defeat, thank the Lord.

Lastly and the point that made me want to respond in the first place was you criticizing him being emotional on Piers Morgan. Besides the easy comeback question insinuating that you of believing that men are not allowed to show emotions or cry, which I will admit I'm making an assumption is something you do not believe. Do you know the context of why he was crying? Have you seen the actual interview? The reason why he was crying is because when he looks out into the world he sees the mass amounts of suffering that is taking place, especially in the minds of young men (as psychology is his field of expertise it makes sense that is what he can recognize the most). He sees this suffering and is brought great pain because he was a clinician he know exactly how real that pain is and also how simple some of the answers are to this suffering. Statistically male suicide is at an incredibly high amount and I don't care where you lean politically, it is a bi-partisan issue that needs to be tackled. The reason he broke down into tears is because not only is he noticing the pain, but he feels a personal responsibility to try and heal as much of that pain as he can, and as someone who has helped people through dark times in their life I can tell you no matter how well things go in the end the process of helping people takes a toll on you and can affect you to your very soul when you start to understand how much suffering there really is. That in conjunction with the idea that people like you and massive media organizations then look at his actions, and assign malice and imply that he is an idiot or evil or both, I believe anyone who truly cared about what they were doing would respond very similarly to how he did on Piers Morgan.

Look mate, I'm going to assume ignorance on your behalf, you just don't know a lot about Dr. Peterson and in turn just throw around buzz phrases you've heard either from friends who are equally ill-informed or malicious media sources. Legitimately I would gladly provide some links to videos of Dr. Peterson that made me develop my respect for him both professionally and just as a human being. If you read all of this thank you very much for giving me the respect of hearing out my argument, if you respond I promise I will do my best to respond until we have reached a consensus we are both happy with.

@kodablack1550

@maria617 obviously you haven't read Bill c16 and are gullible as f.

"With all the ink spilled talking about Bill C-16, a bill to protect gender identity and gender expression in the Canadian Human Rights Code and Criminal Code, it is disheartening to see how much misunderstanding remains. Having read countless times that people will be imprisoned for using the wrong pronouns to refer to someone, I believe that a clarification is necessary.

No, you will not be sent to jail or fined for misgendering someone. Here’s what the Bill, now Law, means.

Because it is a federal law, changes to the Human Rights Act only have consequences for areas falling under federal competency such as banks and airlines. Most interactions in day-to-day life occur in businesses and areas covered by provincial competency. In most provinces, gender identity and expression were added as protected grounds a number of years ago.
There are three parts to the new law: anti-discrimination, hate speech, and hate crime.

No, you will not be sent to jail or fined for misgendering someone.

At the level of anti-discrimination, C-16 means that you can instigate a complaint for discrimination or harassment. Using the wrong pronouns repeatedly after being made aware that a person uses other pronouns might amount to harassment, a position that is taken by the Ontario Human Rights Commission. Accidental or occasional use of the wrong pronouns would not be sufficiently grave or frequent to be considered harassment under the law. This new law is enforced administratively through the Human Rights Commission and Tribunal. Because of the obstacles and costs involved in the procedure, especially if the Commission does not support the case, enforcement of Bill C-16 is predicated on the time and financial access of complaintants, many of whom will not have the thousands of dollars necessary to sue without Commission support.

Accidental or occasional use of the wrong pronouns would not be sufficiently grave or frequent to be considered harassment under the law."

I learned this in grade 8
152.07 Million Kilometer Sun to Eart changes 147 Million Kilometer
every Year
takes Tousand of years to change the Iec age to Global warming
roughly 20,000 the great Ice sheets buried much of Asia, Europe, and North America stooped creeping advance. Within a few hundred years the sea level in some places had risen by as much as 10 meters and also covers Greenland which to melt today. This freshwater flood filled the North at and shut down the ocean currents that conveyed warmer water from equatorial regions northward The sea Ice and changing the circumpolar winds. As a result- and
for reasons that remain unexplained
152.07 million Kilometer Sun to Earth changes 147.1 million Kilometer to 94 million Kilometer every year
difference time from the Ice Age 20 thousand years to Ice to melt
Roughly 20,000 years ago the great ice sheets that buried much of Asia, Europe and North America creeping advance. As a result -and for reasons that remain unexplained the Southern may have begun to release carbon dioxide enough to raise concentrations in the by more than 100 parts per millennium a-roughly equivalent to rice in the last 200 years then wormed the globe, melting back the Ice sheets and usherin in the current climate

Jordan: So what are we gonna do about it, stop traveling, stop the planes, stop taking the trains, cars, boats???
Somebody from Wuhan: I may have an idea

@meagain2222

@SuperGoldnut She took a solar and wind powered sailboat across the Atlantic and it took 2 weeks.

@meagain2222

I can't help think that Covid is natures way of saying if you humans don't become more life compatible we (nature) will have to fix you by force. Those planes that run around the earth daily consume huge amounts of fuel. Those are the things which delivered Covid all around the earth. And it also has shut down many other wasteful things. It also may turn out that is way worse than we think.Yet to come. Human consciousness has an effect on nature. If we continue to consume vast amounts of everything look out mankind. Greta talks about mass extinction and that may include a huge part of humanity. Think seriously people of this planet.

@Nerthus9

@Sterrence Bartholomint That might be true. But perhaps Mother Nature has a stronger medicine than Covid for us, unless we get the message.. Those who live will see..

@toufisaliba8024

@Sterrence Bartholomint source??

@trekkeruss

@meagain2222 But the sailboat required manufacturing, so it was not without cost to the environment. Also, the crew which manned the boat flew across the Atlantic so that she herself would not have to fly.

I've been called negative for suggesting we can't stop climate change. It's so great to hear a genius confirm it.

@ERobbins1234

You heard an idiot confirm your belief. That's what the Youtube algorithm does.
