doc.tod Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Cause if I told you that I loved you
Then I meant it it was real
And I'm not okay, yea I'm not alright
You took my love and didn't think twice
And if you only
Let me know from the beginning
Then I'd tell you baby it's okay
And I don't have to give my love away
And if you only let me know from the beginning
Baby it's okay
But don't you take my love away
It could've been for someone else
Could've been for someone else
Now I don't know who to tell
Who to tell
Cause if I told you that I loved you
Then I meant it it was real

And I'm not okay, yea I'm not alright
You took my love and didn't think twice

Thank you!! I'll share your music with a local Mom who lost her beloved vet son to his fight with PTSD and set up a fund to benefit other vets.
Because knowledge is power, I also want to offer this to patients and their families:

https://tirr.memorialhermann.org/uploadedFiles/_Library/Childrens/Psych_TBI_Manual_FINAL129.pdf

- use pages 15 -23 as a checklist to help you 1) identify your specific issues 2) assist you when speaking with your doctor(s) and requesting appropriate treatment 3) make sure you're getting the care you need (self-advocate).
If you feel your care providers are being biased/judgmental or not listening to you, ask for a different provider: one trained in trauma-informed care or one with whom you feel comfortable talking about your most intimate stuff. Or ask for patient advocate to intervene or accompany you.
If you're still not receiving the care you need or receiving one-size-fits-all care, call them out on it. From both my own patient experience and from multiple sources within the healthcare system, our mental and medical care is being rationed. We're not getting our money's worth. Most services we need ARE covered by our insurance, we're paying high monthly premiums, but the our providers aren't making the referrals, providing enough beds, staff and specialists... why? the bean counters focus on streamlining patient throughput, cutting their costs and increasing their profits. The system needs to hear our voices and revisit their priorities- for us and for all who will follow.
- Sounds like a rant, but we patients don't have a clue this is going on and are vulnerable without this knowledge.
I want to sign off with an inspiring, empowering quote from one of our local psychologists (on depression): only 20% of healing is due to the therapy; 80% is due to "what you bring to the party."
Thank you for your service and Peace, Love and Healing to you, Doc Todd, and to everyone.
