Her music is influenced by scat, swing, and gypsy music in addition to jazz. Born and raised in Okayama, dorlis is also an experienced guitarist. She learned to play the guitar at a very young age, and after quitting school to pursue her interest in music, she began performing in the streets at the age of 17. After being spotted by producer Ken Matsubara (who also produced artists such as 平井堅 and BoA) in 2002, she released her first album, swingin' street, under the independent label SUPALOVE. After her popularity grew, she was signed to Victor Entertainment. In early 2005, she released her first major single マリポーサ.
