Crush

We'd laugh like it hurt some days
With talks till at least two
I'd float like notes in a song
Content in the dream with you

Cold winter movies, spring naps in cool sheets
A summer sun that never shines
I've been missing you lately
Think of you daily
Floating down like a leaf in the fall

I asked my friends, they say I'm crazy
To think I could call you to see how your day had gone
I never do, thinking I may be
But talking was all we'd done

A million words lately
A million words lately, I miss you
Life feels like it may be
A million words lately

Woo don't wanna fall in love
Yeah - uhh

Cold winter movies, spring naps in cool sheets
A summer sun that never shines
Fake smiles to say I'm ok
But I'm not ok
Fighting hard, just to stand
Since we had first fell in love

Ooo I wanna fall in love
When I sing into the air I hope you hear it

Overall Meaning

The song "Crush" is a melancholic ballad that talks about the memories of a lost love. The first verse reveals how the singer and the person they miss would laugh together, have long talks until late hours, and even dream about each other. In their imagination, they floated like notes in a song, which implies that they felt happy and light-hearted. However, the good old days are gone, and now the singer feels lonely and nostalgic. The second verse describes the passing of time and how the seasons change but the longing remains the same. The singer remembers how they used to watch winter movies, take spring naps, and wait for a summer that never shines. Then comes the confession that they miss their lover and think about them daily. However, they don't dare to reach out to them to avoid rejection or disappointment.

The chorus repeats twice, portraying a sense of confusion and fear. The singer seems to be unsure about falling in love again, maybe because they fear getting hurt. The last verse goes back to describing the passing of time and how the singer tries to fake a smile to pretend that they are alright. They fight hard to stand, as if the pain of the breakup had taken a toll on their emotional balance. Finally, the song ends with a wish, a hope that their lost love might hear them singing into the air.

Overall, "Crush" is a beautiful song that captures the bittersweet feeling of missing someone you loved. The lyrics are simple but effective, and the melody supports the melancholic tone of the song. Dr. J's voice adds a touch of vulnerability that enhances the emotional impact of the song.

Thank you very much for this video and quick delivery! I felt compelled to add that I agree with everything else said, but not having my arms up helped me not suffocate in a crowd crush situation. It did cost a lot of my energy trying to buy a few inches so my chest could expand enough to breathe, but I honestly believe that it made a big difference as before that I felt like I was SURELY going to pass out from the weight of literally 10000 elbows in my ribs. This was at aftershock in 2018, sacramento.

Edit: I am a stupid. What he said by "arms up" is EXACTLY what I somehow instinctually did and I am almost 100 percent positive saved me from passing out. Yeah it's a bit confusing to say "arms up" when you're at a concert that usually means like, way up over your head lol. But no, exactly as the diagram shows, is exactly what I had to do. I'm extremely thankful my brain figured that out on the fly. Just be aware it's gonna be very tiring to keep your arms even a few inches from your ribs.

I've been to Lalapalooza and Coachella and still, the only crowd crush I've ever been in was when I was 13 at a punk show, where someone instigated a "falling down" mosh pit. Thank goodness for that giant Samoan dude who plucked me out of the mass of humans and put me safely on the other side of a 4' chain link fence
