They are described as psychedelic, space rock, jazz fusion, jagged alternating vocal harmonies, sugary synthesiser pop, punk, prog, epic/atmospheric, noise-rock, wavering 3 part a capella, borderline operatic vocals, often in the space of a single song.
Live performances are known to include home-made costume during the show, synchronised robot dancing and frog-related items. Enthusiastic supporters include Mike Patton and Jello Biafra :
eX-Girl are a beautiful example of information overload. Jagged 3 part vocal harmonies, adventurous arrangements, and songs that hook you like the sucker that you are. eX-Girl ( Kero Kero Kero ) ruled SXSW in Austin , Texas from 1999 - 2005 , we waited for the girls space ship to land with frogs in hand & they never disappointed , their acapella entros to their noise punk tunes were show stopping when they asked for a record label Jello Biafra’s Alternative Tentacles was their, Japan’s Hoppy Kamiyama producer with his ass hole box has guided their invasion , Siouxsie & the Banshees stated that eX-Girl has been their favorite support group, when they toured the US & the UK together. eX-Girl ‘s SXSW showcase with M for their cover of M’s 1979 hit Pop Music was one of the most legendary shows to happen in Austin, Texas , M stated eX-Girl ‘s version of Pop Music was the best ever, M performed with eX-Girl that night for a once in a life time event. Always amazing live performances by the girls , with Hoppy joining in when possible. (-_-)
