And make believe it came from you
I'm gonna write words, oh, so sweet
They're gonna knock me off my feet
A lotta kisses at the bottom
I'll be glad I got 'em
I'm gonna smile and say "I hope that you're much better"
And then I'll close the way I do
I'm gonna sit right down and write myself a letter
And make believe that it came from you
I'm gonna smile and say "I hope that you're much better"
The I'll close "with love" the way you do
I'm gonna sit right down and knock out a very large letter
And make believe it came
Although it's not the same
I'll make believe it came from you
Frank's song "I'm Going Home" includes the lyrics "I'm gonna sit right down and write myself a letter, And make believe it came from you." The song talks about loneliness and missing someone so much that a person writes a letter to himself/herself pretending it's from the person they are missing. Frank conveys the emotions of the song in his powerful and soulful voice, making it a touching piece of music.
The lyrics talk about Frank's desire to hear from the person he misses so much. He longs for that person's love and affection, so he imagines receiving a letter from them with sweet words and kisses at the bottom. He is willing to make believe so that he can feel closer to them. The song suggests that writing oneself a letter pretending it's from someone else can bring comfort and ease the pain of missing someone.
In summary, "I'm Going Home" describes the power of imagination to help ease loneliness and missing someone. Writing oneself a letter pretending it's from someone else can bring hope and comfort to a person's life.

Frank Sinatra had such a beautiful lilting voice in the 1940's, and this song was so touching and poignant.
