In Your Arms
guillemots Lyrics

Where do you think you are
Where do you think you are
Where do you think you are
Where do you think you are

Where do you think you are
How did you get this far
Where do you think you are

Stop fighting about the weather
When there's nothing you can do
Stop fighting about the weather

Stop fighting about the weather
When there's nothing you can do
Stop fighting about the weather

Stop fighting about the weather
Stop fighting about the weather
You can't hide away forever
You can't hide away your smile
You can't hide away forever
So come out, so come out, so come out

So come out
So come out
So come out
So come out

No, I can't explain it
No, I can't explain it

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Guillemots' song "In Your Arms" suggest a sense of confusion and disorientation. The repeated question, "Where do you think you are?", implies a lack of clarity about one's location, identity, or purpose. The next line, "How did you get this far?", adds to this sense of confusion and raises questions about how the singer has ended up in their current situation.

The refrain, "Stop fighting about the weather, when there's nothing you can do", suggests a frustration with worrying about things that are out of one's control. The weather serves as a metaphor for life's unpredictable nature, and the singer is urging themselves or someone else to stop struggling against it. The repetition of this line emphasizes the importance of accepting things as they are and not wasting energy on futile resistance.

The final lines, "You can't hide away forever, so come out", encourage the listener to face their problems and confront their fears. The repetition of "so come out" further emphasizes the importance of taking action rather than retreating. The conclusion, "No, I can't explain it", suggests that these feelings of confusion and uncertainty may not have a clear explanation, and that the singer or listener may need to sit with them and accept them as a part of their experience.

I agree about Walk the River; most its songs were a little less original than the ones in the previous albums, but I think there's no reason to go back to the style they had in Through the Window Pane, or even in Red, I believe it's better to improve and make better and original sounds, just like in this song, but we'll see how they turn in the incoming three albums :D
