End
iD And Sleeper Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Nothing to hold on to when you're alone, then you find each other.
She heard you're leaving in august.
You promise to write, she's waiting at home.
An unanswered call.
I want you to know I'm alright and missing you.
Too bad I'm stuck here with words from a note you sent long ago: "I'd love you forever"
But I'll be back in november.
I know that by then it will be the end.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to iD and Sleeper's song "End" represent the feelings of longing and uncertainty that arise when two people are forced to be separated from each other. The opening line, "Nothing to hold on to when you're alone, then you find each other" speaks to the search for connection that is universal to every human. When we are alone, we yearn for companionship and someone to hold, and when we find that person, we feel a sense of comfort and safety.

The next line, "She heard you're leaving in august", sets the scene for the impending separation between the two individuals. The woman is aware that her partner will be leaving, and she must deal with the sadness and uncertainty that comes with that knowledge. The line "You promise to write, she's waiting at home" speaks to the importance of communication in long-distance relationships. Even though they will be apart, they have promised to stay in touch and remain connected.

The line "An unanswered call" adds tension to the song, suggesting that communication has broken down between the two individuals. This can be a common occurrence in long-distance relationships, as the physical distance can make it difficult to maintain regular contact. The line "I want you to know I'm alright and missing you" expresses the singer's emotions and desire to reconnect with their partner.

The line "Too bad I'm stuck here with words from a note you sent long ago: 'I'd love you forever'" is a poignant reminder of the love between the two individuals. The note serves as a symbol of their connection and commitment to each other. The final line, "But I'll be back in november. I know that by then it will be the end" highlights the uncertainty of the relationship and the possibility that it may not survive the physical distance.

This was really good. My trainer refused to teach me about split breaks. Then I had to use a split break my first time out on my own and I had no idea what I was doing. Thanks for this video.

You’re welcome

Jaime The One

I think your trainer doesn't know how to do it, it's a big mystery for most people.

David Palmisano

@Jaime The One I bet he doesn't.

After 22 years on the road I was forced into a situation where I had to learn how to do a split sleeper berth. I’ve always been on paper logs since I’ve owned a glider since before the Elog mandate went into effect but I’m not a good liar as far as running 2 log books and found this video tonight to help me understand how it works and do it correctly. This was the best explanation I’ve found.

Thanks for your explanation. I took pics of my eld last week at the start of each split to try to figure how much time I'd gain after each break, then another pic after each break to track what was gained. After watching this video, the times gained now make sense. God bless and thanks for taking the time to teach others!

Trucking Life Adventures

I’m glad the video helped you out. Be safe out there and god bless.
