Please don't take the following personally, it's just something I observed in this comment section.

On another comment where the op talked about a woman who was abused an ended up leaving him for her abuser, most responses were that she's the asshole and he deserves better. And that women crave the assholes and that he's a nice guy, which is the reason why she left him. Because women don't want nice guys, they want alpha males :)

It's kinda funny how, when the woman was abused and ended up leaving a healthy relationship for her abuser, she's the bad one and gets all the blame
But if a guy has been abused and admits to missing the abusive relationship, he just gets asked why he misses it and a woman telling him she relates to him.
Basically the same situations from different stand points and the one where the woman was abused, she's the one to blame. Very interesting imo.

As someone who has had multiple abusive and toxic relationships, I can completely relate to this song. I went through so much that even when I would find myself in a decent relationship, I would run from it because I didn't know how to react to it. I know what you mean. As the youngest of 9 it traumatized me to witness my mom being struck by my dad those are some of my ealiest memories but it haunts me now in my 60's. But people can be blinded by their love and unaware that negative actions radiate like ripples on water and splash against all who love and care for them. They don't realize how it affects their babies who are too small and weak to stop the abuse. Often teaching them the worst way to behave and poisons/sabotages their future relationships as adults. A repeating cycle of trauma and abuse through generations.

This song reminds me myself when I was 13 and in a relationship with some guy who raped me (he was 20 years old at that time). It was so abusive but I still loved him, I loved him so much that I didn't even think he did something wrong and awful. Years past by and now I'm 19, crying myself to sleep, after being raped 3 times in my life I remember him and realize what he did to me. I'm literally crushed and broken. I hate him and this song is so relatable for me, i loved him even when he did me wrong and I hated him when he "tried his best for me and loved me". Such a bullshit.
Yesterday I actually spoke with my parents about it and I decided that I want to send him to jail. Next week we're going to prepare everything and start it all with the court. I just want to live normally without being fucked. I want to be happy and maria you're giving me power and strength. The song is very understanding to some. She is very talented in her own way. Not basic, she is her own person. This song seems to strike on two subjects... drugs and/or men. A lot people get treated like they are nothing, worthless, ect and get pushed around their whole lives.
