and all my bidnesses legal

and i can teach you if you want to

save yourself and yo peoples

you never ever had to go thru struggle

but they not gonna show you

cause if you pass em up and shut em down

Overall Meaning

In this song, J.Carter (LL Cool J) urges the listener to get down to the rhythm that will rock the walls. He is dressed in Sports and Nike Jordan sneakers and is ready to dance on the balls to the funky sound. He tells us that he disappeared for a year, but now he's back, and he wants us to dance with the entrepreneur of funk. LL Cool J claims that he's not a sloppy fat punk or a Shaolin monk, and he is not down with Johnny Cousin, known as use at a jam. LL Cool J wants people to know he is unique, and he's the one rocking the funky sound, and it's our job to guess who it is. He believes in signing over beasts who are hungry, and that's how he always stays on top.

In the chorus section, the crowd cheers him on as they chant, "Go L.L., Go L.L." His jam is for hardcore fans, and it is not for the faint-hearted as it has hard rock influence with real lyrics. LL Cool J says he is the man with the can full of jams, and he's the one making big steps like Gladys Knight in the pier. Kids are spreading the news about the new grandmaster, the one to choose, and LL Cool J claims he's the executioner, and he should wear a black hood and carry an ax, as he's rough on wax. Finally, before ending the song, LL Cool J reminds us to get down to the rhythm that will rock the walls.
