Are You Still In Vallda?
jj Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I never thought about you this winter; I never thought 'bout you this spring
But now when the summer is here I never thought I'd think about you again
You smoke like a young Belmondo, you wear your flowers in your hair
When you were always to late, I still waited for you in this sweet summer air

So I wonder my love are you still in Vallda? Like 10 summers ago...
I wonder my love are you still in Vallda? Like 10 summers ago...
Someday I know we'll meet again but I said that every summer

and every summer is the summer closer further away from you...

Overall Meaning

In "Are You Still In Vallda?" by jj, the lyrics describe the singer's thought process as they reminisce about a past love. The song begins with the admission that the singer has not thought about their past lover through the winter or spring, yet as summer arrives the memories come flooding back. The lover is described in a dreamy and idyllic way - they smoke like a young Belmondo and wear flowers in their hair. The singer remembers waiting for the lover, who was always running late, in the sweet summer air.

The chorus of the song asks the question, "I wonder my love, are you still in Vallda like 10 summers ago?" The question implies that the singer has not seen their lover in 10 summers, and wonders if they are still in the same place that they once shared memories. The following line, "someday I know we'll meet again, but I said that every summer," suggests that the singer has held onto hope of a reunion, but acknowledges that time has passed and the possibility may be slipping away.

Overall, "Are You Still In Vallda?" is a melancholy but beautiful song filled with nostalgia and longing. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of a past love and the memories they shared.

I love when somebody that I do not know, make me laugh. Good job little man.

@BrandonRyker

you smoke like a young Belmondo. Jean-Paul Belmondo was a charming french actor who smoked a bunch of cigs. Pierrot le Fou is one of his best performances. This song brings me back to when life was amazing.

@ismaelogando59

The lyrics go: you smoke like a young Belmondo.... Meaning the oh so nice appeal of Belmondo, the french actor for Truffaut's Nouvelle Vague's films... I love this song <3
