Stronger Than I Am
lily rose Lyrics

I need a drink
No none of that good stuff
'Cause I'd hate to think
That dusty old bottle on the counter aged finer than we did
I might not look familiar
Don't frequent this placeI'm usually good at
Dealing with things
But all my old tricks that I'm used to ain't working the same
So right now I'll try anything
Sometimes I feel stronger than I am
Sometimes I can handle my own
Sometimes my day goes just like I planned
Sometimes I forget that you're gone
Sometimes I pick myself up and I shake the dust off
But tonight I don't feel like I can
That's why I am sitting here
Sipping on something that's stronger than I am
If my dad was here with me
He'd give me advice
Say, "Even the worst things get better with time"
But that clock on the wall hasn't moved, since you told me, "Goodbye"
So I'll let this whiskey kiss me goodnight
Sometimes I feel stronger than I am
Sometimes I can handle my own
Sometimes my day goes just like I planned
Sometimes I forget that you're gone
Sometimes I pick myself up and I shake the dust offBut tonight I don't feel like I can
That's why I am sitting here
Sipping on something that's stronger than I am, oh yeah
Something that's stronger than I am
I've tried taking our pictures off the wall
I've tried working from dusk until dawn
I've tried all of the friends I can call
Oh, but none of it's helping at all
'Cause sometimes I feel stronger than I am
Sometimes I can handle my own
Sometimes my day goes just like I planned
Sometimes I forget that you're gone
Sometimes I pick myself up and I shake the dust off
But tonight I don't feel like I can
That's why I am sitting here
Sipping on something that's stronger than I am, oh yeah
Something that's stronger than I am
In Lily Rose's song "Stronger Than I Am," the singer is dealing with heartbreak and trying to cope with the pain of losing someone they loved. The lyrics allude to the fact that the singer is out of their depth, and they are struggling to handle the emotional fallout of the breakup. They turn to whiskey as a way to ease their pain, but the singer is aware that consuming alcohol is not a healthy coping mechanism.
The lyrics suggest that the singer has tried many things to alleviate their agony, like taking down old pictures, working long hours, talking to friends, but nothing seems to work. They reflect on the wild array of emotions they go through each day, sometimes feeling like they can handle their pain, and sometimes not. The singer is not ashamed that they are struggling, as they understand that sometimes one needs to take a moment to sit and accept that they are hurting.

I just love the video for this... my wife is an RN and her first job was pediatric ER... I will never forget her coming home after performing CPR on an 8yo boy, in his little spiderman underwear for like 30 minutes... they were so desperate to save him. But he was gone and his parents were devastated. It was so sudden and they didn't know exactly what had happened. She was in full tears as she came through the door after her shift. And down the hall was her 6yo son, sleeping in his bed. She ran right to his room and snuggled him. She cried in my arms and I don't think she slept at all that night. Health care workers see the best and worst this world has to offer. God bless you guys!
