Luis Mariano became famous in France in the 50s with the light opera "La Belle de Cadix". His fame grew even more with "Le chanteur de Mexico" and "Violettes Imperiales", light operas on stage which became films. He enjoyed then a huge popularity and fans went even totally crazy about him.
He sang with Bourvil and Annie Cordy.
Luis Mariano had a unique voice and a unique style.
Luis Mariano died in 1970, totally used up after numbers of roadshows and tours, in the most dreadful financial situation, forgotten by all.
He was known to be an extremely cheerful person, enjoying life to the full, over generous with his friends and loving.

{Refrain:}
{au Refrain}
The lyrics to Luis Mariano's song "Perfidia" speak of a deep love for someone, so strong that it has caused the singer to shed countless tears. The first verse speaks of speaking to the heavens and asking if the love he has for his beloved will ever falter. He references the sea, which has emptied his heart, and how it could attest to his emotional turmoil. The chorus speaks of how his life is without hope if he can't see his beloved and how without her kisses, the word "love" means nothing to him.
The second verse speaks of how despite his past sorrows, he still loves his beloved and wants to believe in happiness and forget his tears. He admits that he may suffer endlessly for his love, but in the end, love is all that truly matters.
Overall, "Perfidia" is a song that speaks of the depth and intensity of love and how it can bring both joy and heartache. The lyrics are poetic and speak to the complexities of human emotion.
