She Won't Believe in Me
m-pact Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But I never get the answers right, she's keeping me up about half of the night.
She′s always saying things, about me being faithful.
But it seems no matter what I say she thinks there's another woman in my bed.
She thinks, she thinks there's another woman in my bed.
(Yeah, Yeah)
So when we go out, and we′re painting the town red.
She thinks I′m checking the scenery, when (?)
When I know that she's the one, who′s checking out the grass on the other side.
She won't believe in me, it leads me to insanity.
(It leads me to insanity)
Why don′t she set me free, she don't give me no possibility.
Well she′s the queen of conflict (Ha!), and pretty good at assumptions.
She didn't learn this in school oh can't she see, that it makes an ass out of you
And me.
And speaking of school, she should have a PHD
About what she seems to think she knows about what is wrong about lots of things
She won′t believe in me, it leads me to insanity
Why don′t she set me free? She don't give me no possibillity
She always has a doubt (She never has a doubt)
And hears me out (She never hears me out)
Everything I say (With everything I say)
She just turns the other way
She always questions me (She always questions me)
About what should be (About what should be)
Can′t she see?
(Yeah!)
She makes me think I'm not rich enough, hip enough, slick enough, I′ve had enough.
She makes me think I've got to choose to drop you but I can′t escape
She won't believe in me, it leads me to insanity
Why don't she set me free, she don′t give me no possibility
She won′t believe in me, it leads me to insanity.
Why don't she set me free, she don′t give me no possibility
She won't believe me!
The song She Won't Believe in Me by m-pact centers around a man's frustrations with his girlfriend who constantly questions him and doubts his fidelity. He feels like no matter what he says or does, she always thinks there is another woman in his bed. Despite his attempts to deny it, she doesn't believe him and it's driving him insane. The chorus repeats the sentiment that her lack of trust and faith in him is causing him to feel trapped and hopeless. He feels like he's not good enough for her and even contemplates ending the relationship, but ultimately can't escape the feelings he has for her.
The overall message of the song is one of frustration with a relationship plagued by insecurity, mistrust, and doubt. The singer is asking his partner to believe in him and have faith that he is truthful and faithful. However, her constant doubts and assumptions have led him to feel like he's not enough. The song highlights the importance of trust and faith in a relationship and how the lack of it can lead to negative consequences such as feelings of insanity, hopelessness, and doubt.
