From April 2007 until October 2008, melody. was the host of J-MELO, an all-English weekly show focused on Japanese music that airs on NHK World TV. Outside of Japan, she may be known for playing the character "Yumi Yamamoto" in Electronic Art's Need for Speed: Carbon, which also featured the Junkie XL remix of her song FEEL THE RUSH on its soundtrack.
On October 22, 2008, melody. announced that she would retire from the music industry in January 2009, with plans to enter the fashion industry as a designer of Western-styled clothes. On April 10, 2009, after much speculation, melody. officially announced that she had gotten married to 雅-miyavi- on March 14, 2009. She also stated that they had gotten engaged in May 2008 and she had made the decision to retire from her music career in July 2008. The couple's first child was born on July 29, 2009.
