Under the lead of guitar… Read Full Bio ↴MiRthkon are an American avant-garde rock band.
Under the lead of guitarist Wally Scharold, they play a mix of off-beat, aggressive and dry guitar riffs with complex, unusual compositions and woodwind lines (mostly saxophones, but also clarinets). Sometimes it sounds like a less hectic and less traversed version of Doctor Nerve, sometimes it reminds of the late Frank Zappa (although updated with very heavy guitars). German listeners will be reminded of the more off-beat moments of Panzerballett, where the funkiness and more offensive jazziness are replaced with reminiscences of the RIO school (a bit of jazz rock is present here and there with miRthkon, although with more edge and sneer).
Banana
miRthkon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Whatever you do don't forget to bring a banana.
Don't forget to bring yourself a banana.
Banana. Banana.
This song is the pathetic example of my indulgent tendencies.
When I'm at home all alone in front of a computer with a microphone.
That's right. Yeah. Here we go.
Banana. Banana.
And try not to slip, better watch your feet.
Banana. Banana. Banana.
Banana. Banana. Banana.
He's gotta banana, it looks like a gun.
The other bananas are on the run.
Yeah.
Run for the hills.
Run for your life.
The lyrics to miRthkon's Banana appear to be nonsensical at first glance with the phrase "whatever you do don't forget to bring banana" repeated several times throughout the song. However, when analyzed more closely, the listener can interpret the song as a commentary on the indulgent tendencies of the artist, who is highlighting this behavior by continuously referencing bananas. The repetition of the phrase may be a reflection on how the artist is fixated on this particular treat and cannot help but think about it, demonstrating a lack of control or discipline.
The lyrics also touch on the idea of slipping and falling, with a warning to "watch your feet." Perhaps this can be interpreted as a metaphor for the artist's tendency to indulge and lose control, leaving them vulnerable to mishaps or mistakes. Furthermore, the lines "he's gotta banana, it looks like a gun" and "the other bananas are on the run" can be seen as a humorous play on words, as the bananas become anthropomorphized and take on a life of their own.
Overall, while the lyrics to Banana may appear to be silly or nonsensical on the surface, they can be interpreted as a commentary on indulgence and the lack of control that it can bring.
