Heartache Tonight
michael bublé Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Somebody's gonna hurt someone
Before the night is through
Somebody's gonna come undone
There's nothing we can do

Everybody wants to touch somebody
If it takes all night
Everybody wants to take a little chance
And make it come out right

There's gonna be a heartache tonight
A heartache tonight, I know
There's gonna be a heartache tonight
A heartache tonight, I know

Some people like to stay out late
Now ome folks can't hold out that long
But nobody wants to turn back now
There's too much going on

This night is gonna last forever
Last all, last all summer long
Some time before the sun comes up
The radio is gonna play that song

There's gonna be a heartache tonight
A heartache tonight, I know
There's gonna be a heartache tonight
A heartache tonight, I know
Oh, let's go

There's gonna be a heartache tonight
The moon's shining bright
So turn out the light
And we'll get it right
There's gonna be a heartache tonight
A heartache tonight, I know

Somebody's gonna hurt somebody
Before the night is through
Somebody's gonna come undone
There's nothing we can do

But everybody wants to touch somebody
If it takes all night
Everybody wants to take a little chance
And make it come out right, right, right now

There's gonna be a heartache tonight
A heartache tonight, I know
There's gonna be a heartache tonight
A heartache tonight, I know
Oh, let's go

Well,ee can beat around the bushes
We can get down to the bone
We can leave it in the parking lot
But either way there's gonna be a
Heartache tonight, a heartache tonight I know
Oh, I know

There's gonne be a heartache tonight
A heartache tonight, I know

Overall Meaning

"Heartache Tonight" by Michael Bublé is a song that is all about the anticipation of pain and hurt that is expected to come when people come together to find a connection. The song suggests that people are willing to take a “little chance” and “touch somebody,” even when they know it is not guaranteed to end well. The lyrics indicate that everyone wants to find love, but in the pursuit of that love, there is inevitably going to be heartache.

Bublé describes how some people like to stay out late and enjoy the night, while others cannot stay up as long. He notes that no one wants to turn back, though, because there is too much going on. It seems that, for Bublé, the potential for heartache and the thrill of the moment are enough to make people willing to stay out and pursue love.

In the end, Bublé suggests that there is nothing anyone can do to prevent the heartache that is coming. It is inevitable when someone takes a chance on love. Still, everyone wants to take that chance, no matter what the risk may be.
Overall, "Heartache Tonight" is a bittersweet song that highlights the vulnerability and risk involved in love and finding a connection.

Every song he sings is GREAT.

I think Michael Buble has a rocker in him somewhere--great cover!

Mark Featherston

The band arrangement is the key to this cover's success.

Anders Nyquist

So much hate in the comments... he may not be a rocker, but he performs the song quite well! I like it.

Fay Anderson

Great. Love it.

Jim Hunt

Some here have criticized Michael Buble for covering this song saying he's not rock and roll enough. True, he isn't. I think the sound he was shooting for is Big Band, in that context, I believe he has done a Fine job of covering it.

misteroz

Exactly - what point is there in making an exact replica?

giuseppe ardimento

I agree...

Marikate Moore

I think this is the best performance of it!!! I like the feeling he put on it
