The rose
michael s. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

One, two, three, four
We both lie silently still
In the dead of the night
Although we both lie close together
We feel miles apart inside

Was it something I said or something I did
Did the words not come out right
Though I tried not to hurt you
No, though I tried
But I guess that's why they say

Every rose has its thorn
Just like every night has its dawn
Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song
Every rose has its thorn

Yeah it does
I listen to my favorite song
It's playing on the radio
Hear the DJ say loves a game of easy come and
Easy go
But I wonder does he know
Has he ever felt like this
And I know that you'd be here right now
If I could have let you know somehow
I guess

Every rose has its thorn
Just like every night has its dawn
Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song
Every rose has its thorn
Though it's been a while now
I can still feel so much pain
Like a knife that cuts you the wound heals
But the scar, that scar remains

I know I could have saved a love that night
If I'd known what to say
Instead of makin' love
We both made our separate ways

But now I hear you found somebody new
And that I never meant that much to you
To hear that tears me up inside
And to see you cuts me like a knife
I guess

Every rose has its thorn
Just like every night has its dawn

Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song
Every rose has its thorn

Overall Meaning

In Michael S.'s song "The Rose," the singer reflects on a past relationship that has ended badly. The first stanza describes how the couple lays silently in the night, feeling emotionally distant from each other. The singer wonders if they said or did something wrong, despite trying not to hurt their partner. The chorus compares the painful aspects of relationships to the thorns on a rose, with each night having its dawn and every cowboy singing a sad song.

In the second verse, the singer listens to their favorite song playing on the radio and hears the DJ describe love as a game of "easy come and easy go." They wonder if the DJ has ever felt the pain of a broken heart. The singer regrets not being able to save the love they had with their partner and how they "both made our separate ways." The last stanza reveals that the singer has heard that their ex has moved on to someone new and that they were not as important as they thought they were.

Overall, "The Rose" delves into the complex emotions of love and heartbreak, emphasizing how pain is an inevitable part of the experience. The song encourages listeners to keep in mind that just like every rose has its thorn, relationships too have their ups and downs.

I just saw a video where a person was saying that a priest said that men are born homosexual, so it's God's Will that that person is homosexual, and actually, the first part is true, but the second part is false.
The first part of saying "A person is born homosexual" is true because I have friends who are homosexual and I knew them since 7 years old being in a different way... or that way.. like "gay".
The second part where they say it's "God's Will" that a person is born gay is simply not true, because I will try and explain briefly.
I am a Farmer and I deal with many Cattle Farmers. Whether you a cattle, sheep or pig Farmer, any Farmer will tell you that you cannot have the mother cow having sex with the son, or the father cow having sex with the daughter cow. This same applies to sheep and goat Farming. In Human terms, this is called INCEST.
In Leviticus 18, Forbidden Sexual Practices, Almighty God CLEARLY sets the rules of sexual conduct.
Now what happens when you don't keep to the rules and commands Almighty God gave you? Well, the result in sheep or goats, you find midget goats. In cattle, you find offspring behaving in a totally weird manner or "mad". In Humans, you either find a physical deficiency or a mental deficiency... like being "gay". Now what happens?? The parents of the child is too embarrassed to explain to the child that maybe their uncle or father was an abuser and impregnated the daughter or you get tribes (Especially in India), where if there are males and females born in the Family, the boys and girls don't go looking for boyfriends or girlfriends because they want to keep the wealth in-house. Some will only go as far as their cousins and no further.. no other bloodline. This is the results of INCEST.
That is why Cattle Farmers constantly swap their Bulls around from Farm to Farm, so that the blood is not near-related.
To top it all off, now, you have demonic Porn Sites propagating Family Incest and you know what they say, "Monkey see, Monkey do!" One of these days they will be promoting Bestiality and whoever opposes it will silenced. This is obviously Satan's work. You can only be blind not to see it!
All gay Roman Catholic Priests has to go, unfortunately, not for their sake, but the sake of the Roman Catholic Church and it's teachings and morals, otherwise, what kind of society will we see in future?
Almighty God put Rules and Regulations and Commands to protect us, not to punish us. HE KNOWS WHAT's GOOD FOR US! And we must learn to TRUST HIM!!
God Bless!

"Goodbye Good Men" was published in 2002. No one listened then, what makes us think that they will listen now.

It was a great book that I read over 10 years ago. This lecture by Michael Rose is outstanding!!!

Navy76 Because the body of Christ is getting pruned into a smaller church that's how we know time is ticking away into it's final end.

The Fullness of Truth Apostolate. You are correct, we must endure our crucifixion in order to be born again.

Navy76 , you’re right but if the cardinals are living in Gay life style, they have to cover up .Nobody wants to swallow the truth.

All the Catholics , we have to pray rosary for our church in this difficult moment. God never leave his church orphan until the end.

I read this book when it came out (2002) and before I reverted to Catholicism. It is not a pleasant read but it is an important one that will help you understand why the church is in the mess it's in now.

nenabunena

so did this book help you to come back to the Church?

Paula Cather

@nenabunena Not at the time. I was an evangelical when I read it but was sympathetic to Catholicism.

@Paula Cather .. Its Still the TRUE CHUCH OF CHRIST.
