Evil
mr.evil Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Drugs and prostitution, 'cause the people gotta eat
Take a look inside you, your thoughts of death and lust
Incestral beating rapists hidden in the closet's dust
Where's the evil?
Find the evil
Burn it to the ground
Where's the evil?
Inside your church and town
Holy priest, no Catholic saint
Deep inside him sin's dark taint
Virgin child commits a sin
Screws the priest, she's clean again
Sing a hymn, God's love abounds
Pass the collection plate around
Gave your wealth to save your souls
Preacher's profit there it goes
Seek the evil
Find the evil
Burn it to the ground
Where's the evil?
There's the evil
Inside your church and town
So bring about your witch hunt
Scapegoat me 'til you're clean
Your crusade's so damn righteous
And I'm so fucking mean
Seek the evil
Find the evil
Burn it to the ground
Where's the evil?
There's the evil
Inside your church and town
Aaaaaahhhhhhhh
Seek the evil
Find the evil
Burn it to the ground
Where's the evil?
There's the evil
Inside your church and town
The lyrics of Mr.Evil's song "Evil" talk about the consequences of getting what one wants. The opening lines use imagery to show that while a fire might be comforting in the cold, it can be destructive when reflected on the snow. Similarly, the zenith (highest point) might be desirable, but it can also consume and freeze. The lyrics ask if this is what the person wanted, and repeats the question throughout the song.
The second half of the lyrics mention darkness in someone's eyes that reflects the clear blue sky. The twilight (a time of day between day and night) burns and compels, yet the person is asked if this is what they wanted. The lyrics don't specify who the "you" is that the song addresses, leaving room for interpretation.
Overall, the lyrics seem to suggest that wanting something and getting it might not always be positive, and that one should consider the consequences before desiring something too strongly.

I was told that long ago by my mother when I first watched this flick and scene.
Thank goodness, that Persian cat didn't really lose all its fur. It was later a cat that was already hairless.
A way to skin a cat but without really skinning it.
And here's a joke from a book of Garfield comics.
Q: Is there more than one way to skin a cat?
A: I have just given your name to the authorities.
