Getting Better
nelward Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Every day
In every way
I'm happy to say
I'm getting better

I fell on my head
Just when you thought I was dead
I'm getting better

I'm getting better

Got stuck in a maze
And in my thick haze
I roamed the same place what seemed forever
Matched eyes with my fate
I laughed in his face
I'm getting better

I'm getting better

I'm getting better

La la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la

I'm covered in stings
It don't mean a thing to me

I'm getting better
I'm getting better

I'm getting better
I'm getting worse

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of nelward's song Getting Better convey a message of resilience and the will to optimism. The song is a celebration of progress, a reflection on how even though things may not always go according to plan, we can still learn from our mistakes and become better versions of ourselves. The chorus, "Every day in every way, I'm happy to say, I'm getting better," repeats throughout the song, reinforcing the sentiment that there is always room for improvement, and that small steps towards progress can make a big difference.

The first verse of the song describes a fall the singer took and how, despite being injured, they are still getting better. The lines "Just when you thought I was dead, I'm getting better," convey a sense of defiance and determination, refusing to let an accident hold them down. In the second verse, the singer describes being stuck in a maze, but instead of succumbing to despair, they meet their fate with laughter and determination to improve. The repetition of "I'm getting better" emphasizes the theme of growth and self-improvement.

Recovery is not linear. You will have shaky days, but you will get there.

@sparrow_solas

i thought you said stinky days

@Dominic_is_kinda_stupid

@@sparrow_solas you will also have a few stinky days on the road to recovery

@Zulf85

@@sparrow_solas I mean, also true. When I was at my worst basic self-care was hard lmao

@leopardbunny

The absolute shock to my system that "I'm getting worse" hit me with genuinely took me off-guard. I think this song perfectly encapsulates the road to recovery with how low moments can still hit you out of nowhere and they hit hard, but you can still keep going forward.

@viennasavage9110

Depends on what forward means

@Karls_Clips

i love the "im getting worse" its like the entire song is covering up that fact.

@noxer5589

naw, man just had a low day but things got better

@Patchess

Thats the part that hurts

@SantumsOldChannel

kinda wish it wasn't there, i feel like the fact that he's lying was already implied well enough with the desperation in his voice.

doesn't ruin the song to have that explicitly told to us, but would've been cool if it wasn't
