You guys don't understand. Although, technicaly it wasn't a difficult orchestral piece. It is... something

I was in small (junior) orchestra in my old elementary music school. And based on how good you are, they transfer you to senior orchestra.
I first heard this piece when I was like 12 years old. I can't explain how I felt, it was like, you were part of something bigger, something that's creating something wonderful.
And soon after, I started practicing like crazy, was transfered to senior orchestra, third violins, and worked my way to first violins.

God the emotions, the vibrato you do, the presure on strings, the orchestra breathing as one, and everyone was an integral part of it.

Trust me people, this was the best period of my childhood. If you have kids, and want them to learn something, enroll them into music school, but don't push them to fulfil your unfulfilled dreams.

This was, I don't know man. Just pure emotions and just, being there doing that

During the 30 year civil war in Sri Lanka in the 90's we had no TV, no electricity and no food. But as kids, we used to collect old batteries and operate a small radio and would wait till they played this song at 9.55pm everynight before the local news. The war is now over and the country is peaceful; but nothing can takeaway the memories this song brings. I never knew the name of the song, neither the name of the composer and nether did I know the song was 400 years old. When the batteries run out of power, we leave it in the sun to charge, as we couldn't afford to buy. Listening to this song, was our only happiness during the war. Our tummies were empty, but our hearts were full.

I agree, this has to be one of the most elegant pieces of music ever written.
Various orchestral versions are out there, and a few guitar variations.
It is interesting how this can be soothing or energizing.
*I'm not a cello player, so I don't understand that point of view. What is the issue? Too much? Too little? Too basic or too complicated?

When I was 13, I was backstage before a concert. The stress was building (we were competing in a national concerto competition) and some of us were starting to crack. The soloist was having a panic attack in the bathroom and we had an hour to let the stress build. Suddenly, my friend (who plays cello) sat down and started playing the cello part for this. Soon, my friend came along and started playing the first violin part. Soon, more people joined and we had a quartet in less than two minutes. More people kept joining until all the strings were used up. The rest of the orchestra held each others hands and they all closed their eyes. That was the most beautiful moment of my entire being and I will never forget as long as I live.

I've heard a lot of versions of Canon, and this one is by far the best. No twangy sounding guitar; perfect tempo; full sound; beautiful intertwining of the violin and the basso.

If you want a classic, full version, this is it.

I have always loved music of many kinds. One year my son taking piano lessons, he was 9, and we went to a recital for his teachers students. A young girl about my sons age started playing Pachelbel’s canon which I had never heard before. She started playing and even though her rendering was that of a young student and not very polished, as she played I began to realize that that she played was the most beautiful composition I had ever heard. I ask what she was playing and later found a string quartet rendition. I am still totally in love with Pachelbel’s Canon .

I will never get tired of this song simply one of the most beautiful pieces I had ever heard and it’s great from beginning to end especially when the violins play that one different melody and the whole orchestra starts to kick in it’s just so heavenly.

This is for me the most beautiful performance of this music song. Although it's a wedding song, for me it describes the phases of life.from birth, growth to volatile experiences until resignation, grieve and love in the heart. Thanks for sharing.

This song sums up how I feel after a long day of flight training when I do a full stop landing and as the suns light fades away, and I just look to the sky and thank the lord for the beautiful sky’s and step out of my plane to drive home and listen to this song all the way.

I initially came here while watching "Me Before You" (LOVE this film, btw), when the wedding scene begins...

I realised that I hadn't listened to this for awhile & that the scene was only going to tease me with a tiny amount of it - so the movie is still paused at that moment, while I continually listen to this beautiful rendition of the great Pachelbel's Canon in D!

This really IS the best version! By Far !!! I listened to every other Pachelbel's Canon upload I could see in YT and there were several and I'm glad I kept searching and finally found this since I do like this one the best of all.. BRAVO ! By Far ! BRAVO and Thank You! VERY FULL Orchestra WAS the right tag for this amazing performance!
