The six initial members were selected among the eight girls who were finalists in the second PASSPO☆ audition (Takeda, Fujimoto, Kimoto, Hiraguchi, Kimijima, Otsuka) but did not join after a fan vote decided that PASSPO☆ would not change its line-up. The selected PASSPO☆ audition finalists were given the name palet. Soon after the group was formed in May 2012, fellow Platinum Promotion talent Igusa joined and the 7 members started doing promotional activities. After the line-up was decided, Fujimoto was chosen as palet's official leader and the members were each assigned an image "palet" color. After months of planning, their debut album Hello, palet was released on October 10, 2012.
On November 29, 2017, it was announced that palet would be disbanding after their last one-man live "PALET LIVE 2017 ～GRADUATION～" at TSUTAYA O-WEST on December 28, 2017.
