Cinematic Youth
peach tinted Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Skateboard tricks at the skatepark
Strollin' with the boys even after dark
Jumping fences, running so wild
Ecstatic circles under night skies
Sneaking out the backdoor
Tossing pebbles at your window
Beautiful youth in your eyes
Your nervous smile got stuck in my mind

Oh no, the curtain's closed, where'd it go?
Oh boy, I've been dreamin' way too long

Sipping cheap wine from a carton
They kicked us out of the club again
Rushing through the streets with our phones out
Dancing to the tunes, never slow down
Skipping all our classes
You wanna be my ride or die?
(Yeah yeah yeah)
Drag me by my hand, look how time flies
This is our cinematic youth, we're alive

Oh no, the curtain's closed, where'd it go?
Oh boy, I've been dreamin' way too long

I feel nostalgia for the memories we never had
Memories we never had
The memories we never had
(Yeah yeah yeah)
(Yeah yeah yeah)

I feel nostalgia for the memories we never had
Memories we never had
The memories we never had

(Yeah yeah yeah)
(Yeah yeah yeah)

Overall Meaning

The song "Cinematic Youth" by Peach Tinted captures the essence of youthful freedom and living in the moment. The opening lines describe the thrill of indulging in skateboard tricks with friends at the skatepark and being out after dark, jumping fences, and letting go of all inhibitions. The lyrics paint an image of the youthful energy and wildness of adolescence, with a sense of invincibility and excitement that comes with being young.

The chorus of the song highlights the contrast between this naive adolescence and the reality of growing up. The lines "Oh no, the curtain's closed, where'd it go?" and "Oh boy, I've been dreamin' way too long" express a certain sadness of realizing that the fleeting moments of youth are coming to an end, that things will change, and life will grow to be more complex and less free.

The bridge of the song is particularly poignant, going into a different aspect of the longing and nostalgia. The line "I feel nostalgia for the memories we never had" speaks to a kind of idealized youth that we may have wished we had, that we didn't quite get to experience for whatever reason. The song, therefore, is not just about a particular youth that somebody had but about that one ideal, romanticized youth that everyone can bitterly chime in with their own memories of unfulfilled dreams.

Ever since I was a kid, all I wanted was to be part of a cool group of friends, to go places, do things together, skate, talk, dance, smoke, connect.. My fate seems to want me to live as a loner, many people come and go in and out of my life, no stable group of friends..Just me , by myself. Loneliness has followed me everywhere, all my life. Songs and videos like this give me the chance to at least experience somewhat, moments I never lived and probably never will, but always dreamt of ...

@lauragg9121

thought I was the only one, but same fam.
I know the feeling, sometimes you even ask yourself if it is YOU the reasson why nobody is actually there all the time, but I come to realize that we are not gonna learn neither experience the same things in this life, like you and I, we did not inted too, but we end up realizing what it means to be alone and kind of "enjoy" it, while there are folks that drive crazy fot it...

@angele548

Itโ€™s the same for me.. I started skating, but itโ€™s honestly not as much fun alone, and Iโ€™m (obviously) not very good either
Iโ€™m trying not to quit, but I might be losing motivation:(

@virajyadav4711

I feel you man, I always wanted a group of homies with whom I can share this kinda music while going places and doing things but I have seriously hard time making friends and I too have no stable group of friends, everyone either cuts off or backstabs me, and my 2 best ones are polar opposite of me sometimes making me wonder how come I'm even friends with them even tho I love them like brothers.

@MaryMeow92

Me too, you're not alone. I always wondered what it would feel like to be a part of a group like that. To feel that feeling of true membership and togetherness, to share and live and experience shit together. Feeling that true bond of friendship between more than 1 person. I still dream about that. I dont think i ever got to experience this feeling of being truly wanted and loved in a group, ive kind of always been an outcast and i have grown to not even try and get close to people anymore because all i got was rejection. I hope that all of us get to experience this at some point and have the best time of our fucking lives๐ŸŒ ๐ŸŒธ

I feel you it's the same for me
