In 2018, Papa and Vidović decided to rebrand, replacing dark pop sound with nostalgic synthwave sound of the '80s and starting to make music in their native Croatian.[6] Under the new name Pocket Palma, they released an EP Godišnji in summer 2019. During the same year, they signed a contract with Croatian label Aquarius Records and released their self-titled debut album in Croatian. That same year, Bruno Žabek joined the band as the guitarist.
Papa and Vidović met in high school in 2012 and, started making covers of songs by Arctic Monkeys and Guns N' Roses "for fun". They both attended elementary music school, where Papa played the flute and Vidović played the piano. Following their graduation from high school, they enrolled in the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb.
In 2013, they released their debut single "Things Which No One Else Should Know About" under the name Side Project, after which they began working on their debut album. In March 2015, they released a music video for their new single "Glitter", directed by Filip "Philatz" Filković. On 4 September the same year, they released their debut studio album Things Which No One Else Should Know About. They promoted the album by holding a concert in Tvornica Kulture, Zagreb on 5 December.
In 2016, they released singles "Guns" and "Giving Souls Away". In June 2017, they released their new single "Second Skin", inspired by Zagreb Pride 2017. In September the same year, they released the lead single off their sophomore album of the same name, "Lonely Boys". During the same year, they recorded official soundtrack for Filip Filković's short dystopian film The Last Well, which was released in November. In December, Lonely Boys was released.
In 2018, Papa revealed they had dropped out of university.
Papa and Vidović stated that they had spent most of 2018 separated, consequently not knowing how to make music for Side Project together as they both had headed in different directions. They simply "were not inspired to make new Side Project material". During one of their sessions, they decided to translate one of the songs they had written to Croatian and thought it "sounded cool". In spring 2018, they composed new music and wrote lyrics about going to the seaside, going out of the city, and summer love in English to it. They said they had decided to try themselves out in synth pop "after Vidović had wandered to Yugoslav synth pop playlists on YouTube". In the beginning of 2019, they decided to write about the same topics, but in Croatian instead. They released their debut single in Croatian, titled "Godišnji", under the new name Pocket Palma. In May 2019, they released a mini-album of the same name. Until the autumn, they scored a radio hit "Ono što nam inače nedostaje".
After Pocket Palma's music had been taken down from online platforms, Papa and Vidović announced in October they had signed a contract with Croatian label Aquarius Records. In December, they released their debut self-titled album in Croatian for Aquarius. It consisted of all songs from Godišnji, as well as four new songs. The album was met with universal acclaim by the critics, who compared it with Croatian bands Nipplepeople and Denis & Denis.
On 31 January 2020, Aquarius Records rereleased the duo's Side Project works. On 29 February, they held a concert in Tvornica Kulture, Zagreb. In March, they released two collaborations, "Voli me" with ManGroove and "Minuta (PP Version)" with Ida Prester.

Ostatke svoga tijela marljivo
Ono što je bilo prije
Izbrisano sad je tvojim dodirom
Gubiš dah, gubiš strah
Nema mjesta tami
Imaš sve, imaš nas
Polako zaboravi
Jurimo do kraja puta
Nismo svjesni što se događa
Oštar zrak nas meko mazi
Udišem te punim plućima
Gubiš dah, gubiš strah
Nema mjesta tami
Imaš sve, imaš nas
Polako zaboravi
I kada nestane dan
Čak i kad nestane nas
Gubit ću se izmorena
U tvojim snovima
I kada nestane dan
Čak i kad nestane nas
Gubit ću se izmorena
U tvojim snovima
Sve dok gledam kako nestaje cesta
Koža mi se sasvim razlijeva
Tako brzo da ne shvaćam
Ova ljubav sve mi vraća
Nema više skrivanja
Nema više skrivanja
Čak i kad nestane nas
Gubit ću sе izmorena
U tvojim snovima
I kada nestane dan
Čak i kad nestane nas
Gubit ću se izmorena
U tvojim snovima
I kada nestane dan i kada nestane dan
Čak i kad nestane nas
Gubit ću se izmorena, izmorena
U tvojim snovima, snovima
I kada nestane dan, i kada nestane dan
Čak i kad nestane nas
Gubit ću se izmorena, izmorena
U tvojim snovima, snovima
I kada nestane dan, i kada nestane dan
Čak i kad nestane nas
Gubit ću se izmorena, izmorena
U tvojim snovima, snovima
In the opening verses of "Nema Više Skrivanja," the singer reflects on a journey of self-discovery and healing. The imagery of gathering the remnants of one's body suggests a process of reclaiming one’s identity and experiences after overcoming pain or a broken relationship. The act of erasing what was "before" signals a significant change brought about by a deep connection with another person. This transformation, described as a soft touch that dispels fear and darkness, emphasizes the redemptive power of love and intimacy. The repetition of the phrases "gubiš dah" (you lose your breath) and "gubiš strah" (you lose your fear) evokes the feeling of being overwhelmed by emotions, but in a positive way, as the singer reassures their partner that there is no room for darkness within their bond.
As the narrative unfolds, the couple embarks on a metaphorical journey down an uncharted path, unaware of its implications. The mention of "oštar zrak" (sharp air) that caresses them evokes a sense of both vulnerability and exhilaration. This duality underlines how they become entwined in each other’s essence, breathing in one another completely—indicating an intense emotional and physical connection. There’s a sense of bliss and oblivion in their experience, suggesting that they are consumed by the moment, free from the burdens of the past. The phrase "polako zaboravi" (slowly forget) serves as a reminder to intentionally release past hurts and embrace the present. Both individuals will need this liberation to sustain their bond and to progress together without being weighed down by previous traumas or insecurities.
The repeated refrains about losing oneself in dreams convey a haunting yet comforting notion—despite possible loss, the enduring connection remains profound. The lyrics highlight how, even in the dark or when the day fades, the strength of their relationship prevails. Such sentiments suggest that dreams serve as a refuge where the narrative continues, rich with memories and an ethereal connection between the two lovers. The singer acknowledges exhaustion, evoking a sense of weariness that comes from emotional labor, yet there is acceptance in this surrender. The act of "gubit ću se izmorena" (I will lose myself exhausted) symbolizes a willingness to dissolve into the depths of their shared experiences, portraying an intimacy where vulnerability is not just accepted but cherished.
Finally, the concluding portion of the lyrics encapsulates a poignant realization about the nature of love. The imagery of a disappearing road and the dissolution of skin suggests a blending of identities, indicating that love transcends the physical realm and blurs individual boundaries. This intimacy brings forth a profound renewal, as expressed by "ova ljubav sve mi vraća" (this love returns everything to me). The insistence on "nema više skrivanja" (there's no more hiding) serves as a powerful declaration of authenticity and openness, signaling that both partners have shed their facades and found solace in their truth. This culmination reveals that love, in its truest form, compels them to embrace vulnerability and to seek refuge in one another’s dreams, crafting a relationship that thrives amidst uncertainty and the passage of time.

U ogledalu sad skupljam
I reflect on my being as I gather the pieces of myself,
Ostatke svoga tijela marljivo
meticulously collecting the remnants of my physical essence,
Ono što je bilo prije
everything that once existed,
Izbrisano sad je tvojim dodirom
erased now by the gentle caress of your touch.
Gubiš dah, gubiš strah
You lose your breath, you lose your fear,
Nema mjesta tami
there is no room for darkness here.
Imaš sve, imaš nas
You possess everything, you have us,
Polako zaboravi
Slowly let go of the past.
Jurimo do kraja puta
We rush towards the end of the road,
Nismo svjesni što se događa
unaware of the events unfolding around us.
Oštar zrak nas meko mazi
The sharp air tenderly caresses us,
Udišem te punim plućima
I inhale you deeply, filling my lungs with your essence.
Gubiš dah, gubiš strah
You lose your breath, you lose your fear,
Nema mjesta tami
there is no space for darkness here.
Imaš sve, imaš nas
You possess everything, you have us,
Polako zaboravi
Slowly let go of the past.
I kada nestane dan
Even when the day fades away,
Čak i kad nestane nas
and even if we cease to exist,
Gubit ću se izmorena
I will dissolve, exhausted,
U tvojim snovima
within your dreams.
I kada nestane dan
Even when the day fades away,
Čak i kad nestane nas
and even if we cease to exist,
Gubit ću se izmorena
I will dissolve, exhausted,
U tvojim snovima
within your dreams.
Sve dok gledam kako nestaje cesta
As long as I watch the road disappear,
Koža mi se sasvim razlijeva
my skin splits apart completely,
Tako brzo da ne shvaćam
so swiftly that I scarcely grasp it,
Ova ljubav sve mi vraća
this love restores everything to me.
Nema više skrivanja
There is no more hiding,
Nema više skrivanja
no more evasion.
I kada nеstane dan
Even when the day fades away,
Čak i kad nestane nas
and even if we cease to exist,
Gubit ću sе izmorena
I will dissolve, exhausted,
U tvojim snovima

I kada nestane dan
Even when the day fades away,
Čak i kad nestane nas
and even if we cease to exist,
Gubit ću se izmorena
I will dissolve, exhausted,
U tvojim snovima
within your dreams.
I kada nestane dan i kada nestane dan
And when the day fades away and when the day fades away,
Čak i kad nestane nas
even if we cease to exist,
Gubit ću se izmorena, izmorena
I will dissolve, drained and fatigued,
U tvojim snovima, snovima
in your dreams, in your dreams.
I kada nestane dan, i kada nestane dan
And when the day fades away, and when the day fades away,
Čak i kad nestane nas
even if we cease to exist,
Gubit ću se izmorena, izmorena
I will dissolve, exhausted and weary,
U tvojim snovima, snovima
within your dreams, your dreams.
I kada nestane dan, i kada nestane dan
And when the day fades away, and when the day fades away,
Čak i kad nestane nas
even if we cease to exist,
Gubit ću se izmorena, izmorena
I will dissolve, weary and fatigued,
U tvojim snovima, snovima
in your dreams, in your dreams.
