Jeff Martin, the primary songwriter, fronted the rock band This Day & Age from 2001-2007. In that time, This Day & Age released 3 full length albums, selling over 30,000 copies and playing nearly 400 concerts worldwide, touring with the likes of Mae, All Time Low, The Format, Sherwood, The Spill Canvas, and many more. After independently releasing "The First Joke & Other Matters" in 2010 as Jeff Martin and Steven Padin, the desire to form a new band was born.
Formed in the fall of 2011, Pompton Lakes came together as Martin teamed up with good friends Vinnie Lupoli, Dan Desrosiers, Isaac Strader and Dennis Archer. The band instantly devoted themselves to writing in early 2012 and entered the studio to record their debut "Rest" in June of the same year. "Rest" was released on October 30, 2012 on iTunes and Amazon MP3 with physical copies available for order on their website, www.pomptonlakesmusic.com

Today, today, today
To wash away the gray
The gray, the gray, the gray
And love, I know why you came
Today, today, today
To wash away the gray
The gray, the gray, the gray
And I remember we are not yet home
And I remember slowly letting go
Ohh oh oh
And when I woke today
I reflect on what you made
The green grass
The tall trees
It made me feel at peace
And I remember all your hope
And I remember we are not yet home
And I remember slowly letting go
Ohh oh oh
This is not the end
This is where we begin
This is not the end
This is where we begin
This is not the end
This is where we begin
This is not the end
This is where we begin
...
And I remember all your hope
And I remember we are not yet home
And I remember slowly letting go
Ohh oh oh
This is not the end
(This is not the end)
This is not the end
(This is not the end)
This is not the end
(This is not the end)
This is not the end
(This is not the end)
This is where we begin
The song "Hope" by Pompton Lakes appears to be a reflection on the power of love and the importance of hope, even in the face of challenges and uncertainty. The repetition of the lines "love, I know why you came" and "to wash away the gray" suggest that love is a force that can lighten the burdens of life and bring color to a world that may seem dull or bleak. The lyrics also suggest that holding onto hope is crucial, even when it feels like home is still far away. The line "this is not the end, this is where we begin" reinforces the idea that while life may be full of ups and downs, it is an ongoing journey that is always unfolding, and that there is always a chance for new beginnings and fresh starts.
The imagery in the song is also powerful, with references to the green grass and tall trees that bring a sense of peace and serenity. The use of repetition and the simple, straightforward language of the lyrics reinforce the idea that love and hope are both fundamental and universal human experiences that we can all relate to on some level.
Overall, "Hope" by Pompton Lakes is a song that encourages us to stay positive, lean into the power of love, and to remember that the journey is ongoing and that there is always the potential for new beginnings and fresh starts.
