With surfing you need water. With skateboarding, you need rock, and metal, and a myriad of other hard surfaces. Both are sheer zen pieces of work. If it weren't for surfing, there wouldn't be skateboards, but then again, I'm sure people were doing unofficial takes of it way before any official book on skating was ever published. I've never surfed. I'm amazed at it, but, other than taking a gnarly wave or risk of getting attacked by a shark, skateboarding like Kyle's here is just something that makes my gut tingle when I watch it, and I hyperventilate. Sort of like when you watch Mischo Erban break the world record on a board by going 80 mph without the aid of a motorized vehicle. That stuff makes me melted butter in a pot. All you can do is take your hat off to it. It's a celebration of insanity to physics and science, of cinema and motion, and glory be to God! I wonder how long God was wondering how long it would be before His glory would finally put wheels to a board and paint with that brush. It just had to happen.

I've been watching skate vids for around 15 years and that Kyle Walker part is top 5 for sure. So much going on there. The spots, the selection of tricks for each spot, the execution, and oh man... That incredible style he has. I don't know which is better of all that, its a perfect combo of each. But I'm big on skate styles and his is one of the best around. I don't care for manuals but he threw in some tasteful ones. The big gaps and long long grinds and slides are very satisfying. Amazing part. Can't stand traditional Vans shoes though, haha.

@AngryDeluxe That actually did happen over 20 years ago in my town. A kid got hurt at the new public skate park and his mom tried to sue. I'm assuming she lost b/c now theres a much better cement skate park in the same exact spot.

In most states and even other countries, skateboarding is classified as an extreme sport where any risk, and therefore liability for costs pertaining to injury, is assumed by the participant. This is even more so for places that aren't constructed with the clear purpose of skateboarding.
One SoCal lawyer who specializes in pro bono legal representation for skateboarders looked into this and found that since at least the 1970's, there have been no public instances of a skateboarder in SoCal getting injured somewhere they shouldn't be and even attempting to sue, let alone succeeding. I looked into this myself for both my local area and my country of New Zealand, and it's the same thing. I'd bet my board that anyone who tries to tell you that there is otherwise a legal premise either hasn't read up on basic local laws, or has an agenda against skateboarding; much of the time, it's the latter... because God forbid we get treated with any of the legitimacy other creative folks do.
