Many songs were produced during the hiatus and break he took from the studio sessions of another alias of his, known as Julia Brown, an indie pop band named after a band member. Those songs would eventually become his debut self-titled album starry cat.

Sam would eventually abandon starry cat, and Julia Brown would be inactive since Sam reformed Teen Suicide again with Torts and J2.

Julia Brown has now been abandoned, it was confirmed in a Instagram post of 2021 by Sam that they would no longer release music under that name.
