Active from 1994–2010, they had four RIANZ top 10 singles (the highest being "Every Girl" at #3) and two No. 1 albums. The band's signature song, "Violent", won the 2000 New Zealand Music Awards Single of the Year award, as well as winning Runga an award for best Songwriter. The band won seven awards, among them the Best Album award for their debut, Mix. This was followed up by 2001's Magic Line and 2006's Something Like Strangers. The band officially disbanded in 2010 after releasing their greatest hits compilation.

In 1992, musicians Boh Runga and Andrew Maclaren moved to Auckland from Christchurch. Eventually with other musicians, initially guitarist Joel Haines they formed stellar* in 1994. Originally a three-piece ,they wrote their first single "Ride". This featured in a short film Headlong by Simon Raby. The band in its initial form didn't last. Later Runga and Maclaren came across bass player Kurt Shanks and reformed the band as a four piece.

In 1998 the band signed on with Sony music NZ, later that year they released their first commecial single What you do (bastard). 1999 saw their first album release Mix, then the second-highest selling NZ album ever.

The band officially disbanded in 2010 after releasing their greatest hits compilation.

Tbh I agree with Stellar beauty’s ideals. I am of Sri Lankan decent and I have a medium skin tone. But what no one realizes is that most of the time, brands do cater to our skin colour but the UNDERTONE IS ALWAYS WRONG. Don’t get me wrong, the darker skin tones definitely need more representation. However when a brand puts out something for your colour of skin but is a wrong undertone it’s like they didn’t care about you at all anyways.

I have a medium color skin but it's really hard to find a match foundation to my skin, I thought that it's because my skin is darker that's why it's harder to get the right foundation. Actually you can put captions on in the video, if you click on the video almost like you’d pause it, you’d see in the right corner a three dotted button and you’d see it, even though it doesn’t do automatically, it’s still available. Hi Tati. It’s good that you are interested in ingredients, but please do not teach your subscribers that natural equals better. That is a huge misconception that lots of bloggers have pushed without having proper understanding of chemistry. I suggest you take a look at Lab Muffin Beauty Science. She has a PhD in chemistry and she talks about ingredients in beauty products. She debunks a lot of myths on her blog and youtube. Chemicals aren’t the enemy!

Thank you! I will also check up on your suggestion. I do use "natural" products but the thing is, there are companies that warn that even with "natural" ingredients, it will still have side effects. "Chemical" ingredients don't always mean bad. It's the issue of labeling or categorizing, as well as the sourcing of these ingredients.

@matildaE12 Hmm, perfumes and shimmers aren't 100% natural though, so if the "all natural" product has either of those two things, I wouldn't consider it "all natural" at first glance, would need to check the ingredient list on the product (which I do anyway). Also, what "synthetic products" specifically do think are nicer for skin? Genuinely curious, as I can't see how anything with talc, petroleum-based, or silicone-based ingredients are good for me.

I have had this foundation for about a year now and I like it! When I read that the foundation was catered towards medium-plus skintones I was here for it. I absolutely agree companies need to do a better job for deep and the very fair but I can attest that personally I often fall in no-man's land for foundation shades being half white & half black. I am deeper than traditional medium and don't quite shade match with anything in dark or deep shades.. As a biracial individual who sees more biracial relationships and thus children of mixed backgrounds I do feel it is important to have a company work to fill in the gaps where we have been missed. Overall though I love seeing a full range of colors from very fair to deep-dark so everyone can be included!

I get this 100%. middle tones jump between pink and yellow undertones, with the next shade with your undertone being too dark or light. I work in a cosmetics in a pharmacy and I find it wayyyy easier to match fairly light and deeper toned people over medium skin tones.

Thank you for mentioning that the product has aloe vera in it. I'm mildly allergic to aloe, and more often than not, even products don't say outright if it has aloe in it or not. The weird thing is, aloe is supposed to be hypoallergenic... But that doesn't stop my freakish immune system from attacking it...

Thank you for highlighting this line; I appreciate the lengthy research that the creator went to, and discovering how under served certain skin colors/tones are. Really LOVED your lip (both the gloss and powder)! Wasn't crazy about the 3rd powder, but I look at lip powders as more of a topper, kind of a powdered gloss, if you will. I’m Cajun French with olive undertones but I don’t go outside much so I’m like the fairest of the fair. I can tan if I go outside like the rest of my family but I don’t so I’m ghostly green and finding colors that work for me is very difficult.

@sovrappensiero1 I think it's important to realize the color and undertone spectrum for the majority of women and men, and that smaller companies are not going to be able to create 60 shades of foundation/concealer. This brand has obviously not seen a huge amount of traction and probably wasn't backed by a multi-million dollar music career (i.e. Rhianna) or is an established brand like Lancome or Maybelline. Expecting full inclusivity for smaller brands is unfair. It takes a lot of money to expand shade ranges and making colors that are niche is a risk. Perhaps when this company sees real growth, they will do that.

Out of curiosity, what makes you consider this brand inclusive? They have 6 shades of concealer available Tati is using the lightest, and there is only one shade labeled “deep” (I haven’t seen them in person but from what I see on the website I wouldn’t call it deep). Even what Tati says about undertones, I don’t understand. The one deep shade is labeled “olive” (other complexions can be olive too), and the “peach” undertone is only available in medium shades. Even in my ethnically diverse friend group (who are all darker than me...then again most people are darker than the moon at night LOL), these foundations wouldn’t cater to half of my friends. So whatever the owner has said about catering to different ethnicities, I guess I’m just not seeing that in their shade offerings...

Their primer is the BEST. I've been using it for so long, and even though I have other primers, they just don't stand a chance against the brilliant primer, and I find myself reaching for that over everything else. I need to try some other stuff of theirs! I'm happy to see the brand get some love!

thank you for this tati! i also struggle with the same things, but more so in a socioeconomic sense, like i don’t deserve what i have because others don’t, even if it is unrelated to me. and i wondered if volunteering and donating more would help-but it doesn’t. i still do all of those things, but i try to work everyday to not feel bad for having the financial situation that i do (which is literally just living comfortably as a college student)

The undertones issue is real. I’m light skin tone but it’s super hard to find my undertone in foundations. I loved the Bounce foundation because of that range and the finish is lovely. All skin tones need a bigger range, in the meantime I’m happy the darker skin tones are getting the attention they deserve.

I'm yellow undertone and pink undertone. Im pale but not shert white. Uh like a weird inbetween shade :/ still i can occassionaly make a darker one work by brightening it

I'm light/pale and can not find a foundation that dosen't look stupid because I'm really olive. But so many people and companys still completely ignore the olive undertone even tho it's one of the most common. It's rediculous.

I’m always surprised by ingredients in things- the amount of chemicals we ingest and slather on is pretty crazy- it’s nice to see some makeup brands taking the steps to remove it from their products. Tati you look amazing in browns ❤️

Your eye color is popping in this video—so pretty!!! You should make a dedicated video about how to strategically use certain eyeshadow colors to make certain eye colors pop! I have super dark brown eyes, and am unsure on what colors to use that will flatter them. Love you Tati!!!❤️❤️

It is surprisingly difficult to find a foundation with the right undertone if you're light-medium skin toned but not white. In my experience the lighter foundations tend to be really pink, especially drug store foundations!!

as a girl with ambiguously brown medium skin this makes me feel good 👌😩 it honestly IS difficult to find the right color foundation. the ranges always go too light or too dark really fast (but i can definitely see how they rarely go dark ENOUGH for others). once you get a foundation review up i'll definitely go scope them out 👀

The concealer thing makes me very happy, its so hard as someone who is has a very yellow undertone but is also on the pale-er side of medium, its hard to find anything that matches, so I want to definitely try out their concealers 😊

Im extremely pale and I genuinely can never find foundation that comes in a light enough shade for my skin in any line... companies need to work on the entire range of skin tones... light medium and dark please
