All these sheep
Line 'em up
Mindlessly had enough
Taking shots
Life's just been too hard, too tough
Facts, opinions
Give 'em up
Acting different
Fuck them up
Breaking news
Money hungry people are the end of us
I'm no billionaire industry (Yeah)
I'm gonna be your number one worst enemy
Twitter 'bout to try to come and cancel me
Call me the new Jack Dorsey
Cyber immunity
This ain't CNN
I want you to be real with me
Just for once in your life
Turn off channel ten
Spend time with me
Don't watch the weather
We'll get wet together
Enter in these dreams
Call it reality
Turn off the news
We're above these headlines
This ain't CNN
I want you to be real with me
Just for once in your life
Disappoint me
You're a waste of my time
Karma is a bitch
Yeah, she's in her prime
Wrapped around her finger
Tell me how's it feel
Now that she lingers
This just in
I see right through you
I never thought you'd be the one too
Start talking shit
Sugar coating the truth
You try to pretend
But you're not a man
This ain't CNN
I want you to be real with me
Just for once in your life
Turn off channel ten
Spend time with me
Don't watch the weather
We'll get wet together
Enter in these dreams
Call it reality
Turn off the news
We're above these headlines
This ain't CNN
I want you to be real with me
Just for once in your life
Don't act surprised
You knew that this was coming
You reap what you sew
So I gotta let you know
Don lemon has got me going psycho
psycho
Making up some bullshit like Chris Cuomo
Cuomo
(Making up some bullshit, yeah)
Got you in the trenches
We'll be watching from the benches
I'll be keeping your seat warm
While you're locked behind the fences
'Cause we're tired of all this fucking fake news
We know Jeffrey didn't tie his own noose
But you've been thinking
Thinking of that cash flow
Keep on dreaming
When you woke up you got broke
So, enter in these dreams
Call it reality
Turn off the news
We're above these headlines
This ain't CNN

I want you to be real with me
Just for once in your life

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Sunrise/Sunset's song II convey a strong message about the current state of society and the media. The first verse addresses the issue of conformity and how people blindly follow others without forming their own opinions. The lyrics suggest that the singer is tired of this mindless behavior and wants people to give up their facts and opinions and stop acting differently just to fit in. The second verse focuses on the media and how it feeds on people's hunger for money and creates fake news. The singer claims that they are not a part of this industry and will even be its worst enemy. They also call on people to turn off the news and spend time with them, urging them to enter into their dreams and call it reality.

The chorus of the song emphasizes the singer's desire for realness and authenticity. They want people to be themselves and not pretend to be someone they are not. They also urge people to turn off the news and focus on what is important, which is spending time with loved ones and creating a better reality. The song ends with a call-out to specific news anchors, Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo, who the singer believes are making up fake news for their own gain.

Overall, the lyrics of Sunrise/Sunset's song II are a commentary on the current state of society and the media. They encourage people to think for themselves and reject conformity, while also calling out the media for their role in perpetuating fake news.

+Nicole Olivier yes, I know what you mean, As a Kid I ;loved this musical. I lived this man life and later worked 20 year in the USAF and 7 Year in Baghdad, Iraq when I discovered something quite shocking. Is this the little girl I carried
Is this the little boy at play
I don't remember growing older
When did they
When did she get to be a beauty
When did he grow to be so tall
Wasn't it yesterday
When they were small

Sunrise sunset
Sunrise sunset
Swiftly flow the days
Seedlings turn overnight to sunflower.
Blossoming even as we gaze
Sunrise sunset
Sunrise sunset
Swiftly fly the years
One season following another
Laden with happiness and tears

What words of wisdom can I give them
How can I help to ease their way
Now they must learn from one another
Day by day
They look so natural together
just like the newly - weds should be
Is there a canopy in store for me.

Sunrise sunset...

Chaim Topol has passed away this day at the age of 87. May he rest in peace. He will be missed for his talent, his performances, and goodwill. I saw him in a production of this show back in the 90's. I feel privileged to have been able to catch one of his many performances in that iconic role.

This is such a powerful scene. I love the part when the camera is going to all the different faces in the crowd and you see the emotion on their faces. Such wonderful acting without a single word said.

@NickJay

+M. Strain Jr. I totally agree with you but the power of the song is amazing. I love it and so emotional. Like others I find it hard keeping the tears (of joy) back - beautiful.

@Ignauhak

The director has clearly done a good job here, because so much thought is eminating forth from their very eyes. He must have told them what to think and really allowed them time to let it consume them ^_^
