Lovely
t r y ^ d Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You lay there and cry
Feeling sorry for your life
Tearing yourself apart
Drowning in thought
Baby baby tell me
Why do you gotta be
Your own worst enemy
Trees and galaxies
Can't you see
Just like these
You are so lovely
How could you ever think
You're separate from everything

This modern myth
Of where you end and I begin
It's just some trick beyond the skin
Of an outer world within

Flowers and leaves
Look and see
Just like these
You are so lovely

Birds and bees
Look and see

Just like These
You are so lovely

Overall Meaning

The song "Lovely" by t r y ^ d confronts the struggles of self-doubt and self-hate, while also exploring the concept of interconnectedness. The opening lines set a dark and introspective tone, with the singer addressing someone they care about who is consumed by their own negative thoughts. The lyric "Tearing yourself apart / Drowning in thought" paint a haunting picture of someone grappling with their inner demons. The chorus then encourages the listener to recognize their beauty and connection to the world around them. The comparisons to trees, galaxies, flowers, and birds act as a reminder that the listener is not alone, but rather a valuable and integral part of the natural world.

The second verse continues this exploration of interconnectedness, drawing on the idea that the barriers between ourselves and others are just an illusion: "This modern myth / Of where you end and I begin / It's just some trick beyond the skin / Of an outer world within." The song concludes with the repetition of the chorus, driving home the message that the listener is "so lovely" and worthy of love and acceptance.

"It's De-Lovely"
Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga #LoveForSale

[Intro: Lady Gaga]
I feel a sudden urge to sing
The kind of ditty that invokes the Spring
So control your desire to curse
While I crucify the verse
This verse I've started seems to me
The "Tin Pan-tithesis" of melody
So to spare you all the pain
We'll skip the darn thing and sing the refrain
Comin' on

[Verse: Tony Bennett, & Lady Gaga]
The night is young, the skies are clear
And if you want to go walkin', dear
It's delightful, it's delicious, it's de-lovely
I understand the reason why
You're sentimental, 'cause so am I
It's delightful, it's delicious, it's de-lovely

[Chorus: Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, & Both]
You can tell at a glance what a swell night this is for romance
You can hear, dear Mother Nature murmuring low "Let yourself go"
Please be sweet, my chickadee
And when I kiss ya, just say to me
"It's delightful, it's delicious, it's delectable, it's delirious
It's dilemma, it's de limit, it's deluxe, it's de-lovely"

[Chorus: Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, & Both]
You can tell at a glance what a swell night this is for romance
You can hear dear Mother Nature murmuring low "Let yourself go"
So please be sweet, my chickadee
And when I kiss ya, just say to me
"It's delightful, it's delicious, it's delectable, it's delirious
It's dilemma, it's de limit, it's deluxe, it's de-lovely"

😃 😀Hi! This! I love when vintage music or musicians make contemporary re-appearances. Like, there's an Ella Fitzgerald song in the trailer for the newest season of the Netflix show, Stranger Things. I know zilch about the show... But I saw some of the comments and there were lots of young people really wanting to know who sang the song and other folks replying.
I was like (to myself in my head) "oh!! I'm so thrilled for them!" Because they're learning about her and Louis for the first time. And like...it's such a beautiful genre of music.
Second hand excitement is real.

She should definitely count these as studio albums. I feel the fandom disregards them because they are not songs written by her, or because the genre is so different. But these albums mean so much to her as her own albums. Just as I count "A Star Is Born" soundtrack as a studio album. It's another era for her. We all know she isn't going to stop being Lady Gaga, but in order for her to do so, she has to be Stephanie once in a while.

@Smurfabilly

I think right now this album means probably more to her than she has ever done

@melisagalvalizi6982

she will never stop singing jazz,NEVER.She said it

@FreesideNS

It is better than everything she has ever done before. Jazz is made for her. Couldn't go along better with any other than the legend Tony Bennett. I go for Stephanie !
