I always found that funny, because the tailgate step system in the F-Series is still the best designed step system on the market. It's still extremely useful and well thought out after all these years.

After seeing the Silverado mid gate go down to fit full sheets of 4x8 goods nothing and I mean nothing any other manufacturer does will match that. It makes every pickup bed feel useless and makes you angry that all pickups don’t do the same

Best setup is bumper corner steps and dampened gate with power lock. A bonus if you're feeling frisky is power up/down. Actually the 2023 Colorado storage bin is slick, I'd take that added to the setup above, or even just a flip up load stop on an otherwise standard (non multifunction) tailgate.

Bumper steps work great until you get a lift, then they are not low enough :(

An adjustable height step (near the corner for use both open and closed) that tucks away for clearance is ideal to suit any bed height.

I would have preferred a step near the corner so it can be used in both the tailgate down and tailgate barn door positions; this is especially relevant if you have extra long cargo loaded and need the tailgate to stay down to hold it.

I like it. Of course the business owner in me would love the added benefit of having dihedrals on the hinges so the barn doors can wrap around the rear fenders and the operator can have access to the full end of the truck bed. Nit just be limited to the center of the back by not being able to move due to the doors only opening 90°.

For a work vehicle that may get heavy use, I don't think complicating the tailgate is a good idea. One bump in the rear and you've got a $5,000 repair bill.

Great video, always appreciate you Andre! I like to see different manufactures making their tailgates more functional. I don’t know why this hasn’t become a thing until lately. My personal vote still goes to GMC multi-pro tail gate as the best even with the trailer hitch issue. That can be resolved either by redesign or sensors.

Yup, GM has the best bed by far! Not even close. Best cargo Volume, most tie-downs, easy accessible bumper steps, most functional tailgate in the segement too. Only area GM lacks in is Ford's pro power on board generator.

It is, but RAM just keeps on trying for that #1 spot aren’t they? They have copied Sierra’s rearview mirror feature as well. The Multi-Pro tailgate makes this look outdated & underbaked - because it is.

The GM gate allows you to open both gates to reach the chains and hitch of my gooseneck. Here the big door could not open all the way, it will hit the trailer.

The main benefit to this I see is you could more easily forklift something directly into the bed. I would take it if it was in a truck I wanted. But I am not going to pay extra for it.
