Overall Meaning

The song Wait by Teni is an upbeat love song that talks about the desire to be with someone through thick and thin. The lyrics express the willingness to walk through life together, supporting and encouraging each other, and being someone the other person can rely on. The opening lines of the song suggest that the song is produced by Dr. Dolo Entertainment and is a collaborative effort with Jason. The chorus of the song is catchy and easy to sing along to, making it a common feature at parties and other events.

The chorus โ€˜Baby wait for me o eh, Would you stay with me eh, No regret baby o, Like a soldier would you fight for meโ€™ implies the need to be patient and committed to the relationship, and how important it is to have someone who is willing to stick around and fight for the relationship. The verse โ€˜Cos I'm always on time, In the night, in the day, I fit give you my lifeโ€™ emphasizes loyalty and the willingness to be available for the other person, regardless of the time of day or night. This stresses the depth of the commitment in the relationship.

I remember young Teni when I attended Apata Memorial High School. After returning from school, most of the girls at the dorm would go outside to wash their clothes and young Teni would hang by the stairs that led to the entrance of their house and also overlooking the girlโ€™s dorm to say hello and wave. Seeing her in this video reminds me of her mother who was so loving to my brother and myself during our stay at the school. Not surprised that she is this talented. Keep the good work!
