The band was originally signed with Matina[/abel], but in March 2003, they switched over to PS COMPANY, right after replacing their original drummer ユネ (Yune) with their current one, 戒 (Kai) ex-drummer of Mareydi†Creia’. Since 2006 they have a European label contract with CLJ Records. In 2010 they signed in USA to Maru Music.

The GazettE's song SHADOW VI II I features poetic and cryptic lyrics that convey a sense of internal struggle, emotional turmoil, and self-doubt. The opening lines "Aimaina aimaina tamerau hidarino Scar yowaiwo yowaiwo Red de bokasu" can be interpreted as the singer hesitating and fearing the pain that comes with exposing their vulnerabilities. The lyrics "Ii ix ii ix ii ix asaku imibukaku aimaini aimaini ikiwo tsunagu Scar" seem to suggest that the singer is trying to find a way to cope with their scars and move on.
