When I was a kid, my father took me out one night to show me the shooting stars in our garden. I never saw a real shooting star before in my life. An there were dozends of them flying through the sky.

I sat in my deck chair wrapped a blanket, with my cat sleeping next to me. My father sat at the gardentable with a lamp and read a book. We just watched them, occasionally talked, but just sat there silently for most of the time.
That was years ago on a night at the end of August.

My cat died a few years ago and my father wil retire in a few years.
It kinda makes me sad, that time flies by so quickly, and that I will never go back in time to that night.

I don't know why this song reminds me about it. I feel like I'm seven again. :,)

I was only 3 years old when this game was released. I never had an n64, my first console was a gamecube. I was too young to comprehend mm, I often wish I was born earlier to experiance it in its prime. But that's what I love about video games, books and movies, they're not just for the now, but for future generations as well.

MM is one of the few games that can be hailed as a work of art, along with shadow of the colossus and a few others.

I can only hope Zelda U follows MM's legacy, there are no fantasy worlds like it, it is completely unique, it is The Legend of Zelda.

The amount of nostalgia flowing from these videos is so staggering, that even I, who has never experienced this game in the past, can feel it.

Nintendo keep doing what you're doing. You will always be my favorite.

My mother loved playing the legend of zelda games. I would come home from school to find her occupied with the game now at 33, i miss her this was the last game we played together before she passed away from cancer. Shikashi was a lonely man. Since he was a child, he loved the moon, thus he built an observatory.
He liked the kids in the city and allowed them to play and get together in the observatory.
He knew the moon was going to crash into Termina, but understood it was futile to escape, as their fates were sealed.
He saved that fact to the kid so they wouldnt be afraid of their fate, enjoying their last days to the fullest.
The last day, in the last hours, he was happy with his life and with everything that was given to him.
THAT'S the story to this song.

Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask completed each other so nicely, I think...while one was fantastical, the other was mysterious. While one was a story of courage and strength, the other was a story of fragility and sorrow. While one was about the past and the future, the other was about the impeding doom of the present. This song takes me into that kind of world.

Under the mask of YAY, ADVENTURE! lay the true nature of being a hero, of the sadness an innocent boy has to carry after knowing and losing so much in his journey to save hyrule. Despite its overall bright adventurous tone, OoT is actually a very sad game on its own, but since the game doesn't dwell on the sadness, chances are neither will you. Majora's Mask was the true unveiling of sorts, showing how the events from the previous game changed and effected Link. Poor kid really got screwed over for his heroism 😭😭

I remember I was really scared as a kid of that skulltula that jumpscares you in the way to the observatory. I was afraid, and ran towards the exit, killed the last skulltula and waited for the worst at the other side of the darkness of that corridor... And then this comfort music started to play, felt really secure and all my fear dissapeared. This track is trully magical.

Some people might not agree but this is my favorite zelda game. That might not even change when the future comes. The story of sadness and sorrow but being able to free people's spirits knowing there happy and greatful for that... Wow that was kinda cheesy but I mean it is a beautiful game, a master piece that will be there in the history of games.

My late brother used to really like this game. I remember him playing it on a long road trip way back when, where the N64 and TV were hooked to a power converter in the cigarette lighter.
Apparently my parents had a star named after him when he was born, with a certificate though I've never seen it, and you know those things were kind of scammy.
But hearing this song makes me want to look into the stars and hope I find his soul somewhere adrift amongst them.

Majora's Mask is a game about opposites and about life. Life and Mortality (what do you do with borrowed time?), Hope and Sorrow, Grievance and Acceptance, and True Friendship and Power/Control, Childhood Innocence and Adult Cynicism. Man, and this soundtrack conveys so many emotions to me as a result. I love OoT, but MM literally changed my perspective on life and how important it is to feel, whether you experience joy or even sadness.

I love how the astronomer is the only person in this place who realizes there is really nothing he can do, except wait there and just accept what is going to happen. When I first got to the Astral Observatory, the moon was about to crash, so I didnt get to listen to this song since it was playing that terrifying "Last Hours" song. The moon ended up crashing and I had to restart, but since I now knew what I had to do, I got to the Astral Observatory with a lot of time to spare, and this song caught me completely off guard, it is so beautiful and I hadnt stopped to think that this place probably had a unique song that wasnt the Last Hours song. I loved it as soon as I heard it, and I still do, over a decade later

My gf always says that she loves music with lyrics because sometimes, it tells a beautiful history.

I've always loved music without lyrics because each song can represent something so different to each person... telling a billion of different stories, each one so unique and beautiful to every individual.

To me, it tells of a kid without a father and a very sick mother, A kid who did not know how to talk to other people and spent most of his time walking alone, day dreaming about being a hero.

You’re walking through the gloomy sewer system with dark ambiance and darkness around every corner, to find yourself in a colourful room with somber music. This was almost like a safe haven. A temporary escape from the impending doom. It gave me hope to save the world of termina. One of the best moments in majoras mask.

This song has a weird, disoriented feeling created by the polyrhythm going on. While the harpsichord plays very quickly and softly in the background, the song is dominated by a stronger yet much slower piano progression, while the choir voice, setting the whole landscape for the song, is going at yet an even slower pace. All these odd rhythmic dynamics put together makes for a song that sounds almost like the stars circling around the Earth at all their different speeds and distances. Beautiful.

This song in particular makes me wish I was born way earlier than I was, so that I would get to experience the magic of mm as a kid. I just know little me would have loved and cherished this song just as much as I do now. I absolutely love MM, it’s my favorite game of all time, and this is definitely my favorite TLoZ track I’ve listened to so far. It’s like…a comforting sadness. A sad sound, but not in a sad way. Ahh, this piece. Nowadays I think that it represents the innocence felt by the Astrologist, towards not only his craft but the people around him, and how he innocently worried about the Skull Kid. An intelligent-grandfather type of character. Just consider that he had nothing but patience towards the Bombers, and how he worried about the Skull Kid, yet didn't speak ill of him. He simply took life for what it was and kept studying the Terminian heavens.

This song fills me with so many emotions. As a kid, I found a comfort in listening to it, but also a sadness. I had no idea back then, but as an adult the song is now clearer to me. These days, I long for a time that can no longer be... my childhood. When I heard this song as a child I knew, deep down, that the song was about accepting the fate of Termina. The song is about regret, sadness and longing for the present to remain as it is, but also the realisation that it cannot remain as it is. When I listen to this song now, I find myself reminiscing for the past, but also remembering how I felt when I heard it all those years ago. The difference is that I now long for my childhood years once more, but back then I feel I understood the emotions Link must have felt not only for Termina but also perhaps for his own past in Hyrule. Whatever the truth, we can all agree this is a beautiful song I'm sure. :)

Wow very well written. I’m 14 and scared to become an adult because the responsibility. But one day if I have kids I will have them know that their childhood doesn’t last long. So cleverly composed. Every part of the instrumentation suits the theme. The harpsichord gives a Renaissance astronomer vibe. The chimey sounds in the background are very twinkly, echoing as coming from the deep cosmos, creating an air of mystery. The vocals add a sense of awe and grandeur of the heavens.

The 11th chord at 0:12 gives me chills. So well done.

I actually fit almost all the symptoms of clinical depression, yet you likely wouldn't be able to tell it by talking to me since i mostly have gotten used to hiding it. When I occasionally have episodes though, this actually seems to make them go over quicker.

Wow, I share nearly the same story as you, and you expressed my sentiments exactly. I think it is profound when even I, who has never touched a Nintendo 64, can still feel the nostalgia and meaningful memories overflowing out of these games from such things as their soundtracks. These past few months I’ve been dealing with anxiety, and some nights I’m scared to go to sleep because of the possibility that Imll wake up and have to deal with my anxiety. Recently I stumbled across this video, and it’s helped me get to sleep easier, and I’m grateful for that. It might be a 40 second musical piece on loop for 10 whole hours, but something about it is so beautiful. Never once do I get bored or irritated by hearing it. Something about this song is strangely peaceful, and yet uncomforting.
This place with this song really was the bit of peace you could get in this game, which strangely still lends to a sense of urgency, to wonder what’s going on outside as you stand here

If you're ever out in the middle of nowhere with a good view for looking up at the stars, I highly recommend putting this on.

Nostalgic songs like these remind me of old feelings I can no longer call upon. Being an adult, I see, hear, do, think, and play things differently. I wish I could get that feeling again. I need something more than just a memory of that feeling... That sense of whimsicality, fascination and curiosity... Becoming completely immersed in the world you're playing in... I long for that feeling just once more... So that I may hold on tight to what it felt like, having that childlike sense of wonder that drove my imagination and myself to just play.
