This song fits in very well with the whole "maintaining light in the darkness" theme Majora's Mask has. The darkest Zelda game has so many minigames, so many people who refuse to believe their doom is nigh... So many people (such as Anju, the Romanis, or the Postman) who are pressing forward despite pressures or fear.

Poor Pamela! Surrounded by Gibdo in a land of death, with her father slowly becoming one of them. And her only hope of keeping the monsters out is.....a river that has run dry.

This song is so light, bouncy, and happy in such a dim place as Ikana. IT JUST FITS SO WELL.

Fun fact: The reason this sounds so similar to Boo's Merry go Round is cause Kondo has so many songs under his belt he'll sometimes forget what songs/melodies he's already made and ends up remixing it until someone points it out to him later.

It sounds similar to Super Mario 64's Merry Go Round theme, but they're not the same. They do sound very similar, because… they're in the same style, they're in the same key, same time signature, use similar instruments, they were composed on the same hardware, and composed by the same composer. OBVIOUSLY you're going to hear similarities.

This does not mean they are the same composition. If John Williams composes a waltz in one movie, then composes another similar-sounding waltz in another, are we supposed to be surprised when the two sound vaguely similar? The style/signature of the composer will seep through, it's inevitable. Nothing to see here.

Yes and no, both of the songs were created by the same composer Koji Kondo who composed songs for both the Zelda and the Mario franchise. Both of the games use a similar SoundFont, and share many of the same instruments sounds such as the accordion and organ.

Becoming cursed to slowly, painfully, torturously to transform into a shuffling, monstrous Gibdo, and join the countless other victims in their post-life existence. And leave his young daughter alone... or worse yet—kill her, as the monster he has become. If it weren’t for link... this would have been the plot for a horror movie.
