Oh whoa, oh
Whoa whoa, ohh

I love her today
'Cause it's Wednesday, I won't be late, ooh
Now I need to know
If you're feeling when I'm free
Not on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
Sunday, but on Thursday, Thursday
Not on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
Sunday, but on Thursday, make sure
You are thirsty oh, on Thursday, baby
Get ready, oh, on Thursday
Why you calling? Oh, on Thursday
Just wait on Thursday, baby
Only Thursday

Whoa, whoa
Yeah, yeah
Oh whoa
Oh whoa

Girl I try, girl I try
I've been here for too long
Baby, don't cry
Why are you calling again? (Oh, again)
But it's not Thursday, baby, why you calling?

Not on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
Sunday, but on Thursday, Thursday
Not on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
Sunday, but on Thursday, make sure
You are thirsty oh, on Thursday, baby
Get ready, oh, on Thursday
Why you calling? Oh, on Thursday
Just wait on Thursday, baby
Only Thursday

Thursday (ooh-whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa)
Thursday
Girl, get beautiful
Thursday (ooh-whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa)
Thursday
Girl, get beautiful
Thursday
Baby, I'm rushin' to it, yeah
Thursday
Girl, get ready, get ready, yeah
Thursday (ooh-whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa)
Thursday (whoa, whoa)
Thursday (ooh yeah, ooh yeah, ooh yeah)
Thursday (ooh yeah, ooh yeah, ooh yeah)
Thursday (ooh yeah, ooh yeah, ooh yeah)
Thursday (ooh yeah, ooh yeah)

Whoa, yeah-eh, whoa, whoa, oh oh
Whoa, yeah-eh, whoa, whoa, oh oh

Overall Meaning

The Weeknd’s song “Thursday” is a tribute to the weekend, as it represents the singer’s release after a long week of working. The lyrics show his anticipation for Thursday, as it is the only day he spends time with his lover, who he refers to as “baby.” The line, “Not on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, but on Thursday,” emphasizes how important Thursday is to him. This day is when he can finally let loose and live his life.

The chorus repeats the phrase, “Not on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, but on Thursday, Thursday,” making it the focal point of the song. He asks his lover to be ready for him on Thursday, as he prepares to see her. The line, “Why you calling? Oh, on Thursday, just wait on Thursday, baby,” suggests that the singer's lover is too eager to see him and wants to see him earlier in the week. However, Thursday is the only day the singer has scheduled for her.

The second half of the song repeats the phrase “Thursday” multiple times, with the singer adding more “whoas” as the beat picks up. The repetition of this phrase emphasizes the importance of the day to the singer. Overall, “Thursday” is a catchy song that focuses on love, the importance of release, and the anticipation of a day that symbolizes freedom.

The Trilogy will forever be The Weeknd's best album. His new stuff is good too because come on, his voice is so angelic with a hint of pain it's so damn beautiful. But they lack the depth his old stuff has. I love his dark & poetic stuff like this.

@tierramonet4114

Ik lol they don't play his old music just often, and I can't feel my face

@jasmynetyus5134

I feel like his new music is just as good. I think it's not as dark & mysterious as the old stuff because of newer things he's been experiencing like traveling the world and having a gf lol. Nonetheless all Abel does is make addicting music ❌⭕️

@cavannahrey4224

Yes, thank you. No depth now. Not to say his new stuff is bad, but there's a clear difference in the themes he covers. The songs are more shallow now, with overly repetitive choruses. His new material, you can dance to; his old material...you can float on every lyric and drown in the beat.

@7kole4

He ain't changed at all except for the status he has. He's ALWAYS provided us with that real life dark shit... The sexual encounters, the use & over usage of drugs/ alcohol, the exploitation of problems people incur in life, being on the streets, living in the moment.... He exploits the dark side of life's fortunes... Weeknd's always brought us that real dark shit wether it be in a slow song or a up & at it song. He has proven that he can bring a variety in his sound and still deliver what we know him for.... I appreciate every one of his songs, even the ones I don't give play much....

Only some generic phucks are gonna want to hear that same sort of sound.... There's a replay button for those folks:P Weeknds still providing us with what he always has.

@cavannahrey4224

@7kole4 eh, some of his songs now may cover some of those darker themes...but it lacks that ethereal "soulfulness" that was such a huge part of his authenticity as an artist. His songs were narratives. Each song on the Trilogy album resonated with the CD's titles (House of Balloons, Thursday, or Echoes of Silence). Some of the beats/melody (I'm not really keen on music jargon) in his new material, like track 5 of Beauty Behind the Madness, have strong, mainstream hip-hop influences. I don't care about an artist staying on the same note in every album. That's not what I'm saying...it's important for an artist to always redefine themselves in their craft and experiment. I just think his new album isn't as strong as the Trilogy. Usually when an artist becomes mainstream, their crossover album won't be at the same level as their underground album. You're appealing to a larger audience, so yeah, his album now is for mass appeal. Not to say that every artist do this, but most do.
