If anyone is interested: that year there was a big scandal in Russia because of this song, the Russians were offended that the chorus is heard as "Russia goodbye". Verka Serdyuchka (Andrey Danilko) claimed that in the chorus (Lasha tumbai) is a Mongolian expression that means "whipping cream" or "milk shake", but this expression is slightly changed to make it sound better and make no sense. But Mongolian speakers claim that in the north of Mongolia there is a word "lashig", which means "to shoot down", but the word "tumbai" does not exist. There was also a theory that "Russia goodbye" is a reference to the Orange Revolution of 2004-2005, when Ukrainians protested against the pro-Russian president who rigged the elections (Viktor Yanukovych). In any case, on February 24, 2022, Andrey Danilko officially changed the name of the song to "Russia goodbye", saying: "You wanted to hear it, you will hear it"

I was 14 when this Eurovision took place. I remember like yesterday my aunt, born and raised American, came to visit us at Balkans. I was playing this song all hyped, and at that time I was hard core puberty, metal/emo stage, and she was like "ohh, you have some taste there", and I was like "it is not a taste, it is a culture." And till this day this lives and it is being recognized, so hell yeah! It just runs, and it gets better like an old wine.
