Note: You can view albums tagged as 'Various Artists' in your library here.
The term Various Artists is used in the record industry when numerous singers and musicians collaborate on a song or collection of songs. Most often on Last.fm, compilation album tracks appear under the name of Various Artists erroneously because the individual artist is not listed in the album's ID3 information.
Compilation albums, for example.
Sometimes, single releases may be credited to Various Artists when their profits are going to charity and, usually in high-profile cases, are sometimes known by a group name. Examples include Band Aid with their releases of Do They Know It's Christmas? and USA for Africa with We Are The World.
Various Artists is also an actual performance name for Torsten Pröfrock, who runs the German DIN label. Torsten performs also as Dynamo, Erosion, Resilent, Traktor besides some others. He's a good friend of Robert Henke and since the Fall of 2004, he is a member of Monolake.
Various Artists was also a short-lived Bristol punk band formed by brothers Jonjo and Robin Key (originally from Birmingham). Other members were also simultaneously in Art Objects who went on to become The Blue Aeroplanes, the latter the Key brothers also co-wrote some songs and were involved in. When Various Artists imploded, the Key brothers went on to form Either / Or.
Various Artists also appear on tracks from musical theater soundtracks, due to the nature of having many cast members on one song, as well as an ensemble in some cases.

I wish I could pretend I didn′t need ya
But every touch is ooh-la-la-la
It's true la-la-la
Ooh I should be running
Ooh you keep me coming
For ya
Land in Miami
The air was hot from summer rain
Sweat dripping off me
Before I even knew her name la-la-la
It felt like ooh-la-la-la
Yeah, no
Sapphire moonlight
We danced for hours in the sand
Tequila Sunrise
Her body fit right in my hands, la-la-la
It felt like ooh-la-la-la
Yeah
I love it when you call me Señorita
I wish I could pretend I didn′t need ya
But every touch is ooh-la-la-la
It's true la-la-la
Ooh I should be running
Ooh you know I love it
When you call me Señorita
I wish it wasn't so damn hard to leave ya
But every touch is ooh-la-la-la
It′s true la-la-la
Ooh I should be runningOoh you keep me coming
For ya
Locked in the hotel
There′s just some things that never change
You say, "We're just friends."
But friends don′t know the way you taste-la-la-la
'Cause you know it′s been a long time comin'
Don′t you let me fall, oh
Oh, when your lips undress me
Hooked on your tongue
Ooh, love, your kiss is deadly
Don't stop
I love it when you call me Señorita
I wish I could pretend I didn't need ya
But every touch is ooh-la-la-la
It′s true la-la-la
Ooh I should be running
Ooh you know I love it
When you call me Señorita
I wish it wasn′t so damn hard to leave ya
But every touch is ooh-la-la-la
It's true la-la-la
Ooh I should be running
Ooh you keep me coming
For ya
All along I′ll be coming for ya (for ya)
And I hope it meant something to ya
Call my name I'll be comin′ for ya (comin' for ya)
Comin′ for ya (comin' for ya)
For ya, for ya (oh, she loves it when I call her), for ya
Ooh I should be running
Ooh you keep me coming
For ya
The lyrics to "Hey Senorita" speak about the intense attraction and desire the singer has for a woman who calls him Señorita. He admits to being physically and emotionally drawn to her despite wanting to distance himself. Every touch he has with her makes him want more, and he cannot resist her charm. The song takes place in Miami, where they first met and where he discovers her taste. He cannot help but love her and wants to keep coming back.
In various artist's rendition of the song, the lyrics take on a different meaning depending on the genre. For example, in Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello's version, the melody is soft and slow, which provides a sensual feeling to the lyrics. Camila's breathing patterns and huskier voice add to the sexual nature of the lyrics.
In contrast, Kris Kross Amsterdam incorporates a high energy tempo in their version of "Hey Senorita," which gives the lyrics a more playful vibe. The group adds back-up dancers and a beach scene, emphasizing the fun that they are having together, rather than the sexual nature of their interactions.
The Spanish version of "Hey Senorita," sung by Alex Rose and Rauw Alejandro, highlights the bilingual nature of the song. When translated, the lyrics retain their original meaning, with the addition of the Spanish language layer. This version of the song has a more romantic feeling.
