Overall Meaning

The song "Frosty the Snowman" is a classic Christmas tune that tells the story of a snowman who came to life and went on an adventure before melting away. The song begins with Vaughan Monroe introducing himself as Frosty the Snowman while the Moon Maids shout out in excitement. The song then goes on to describe Frosty, with a corncob pipe and a button nose, made out of snow but magically came to life. The song moves forward to describe how Frosty realized he was melting away in the hot sun and decided to run with the children to have some fun before he melts away.

As the song continues, Frosty runs through the village with the children on a broomstick in hand, dodging and fooling around with the townspeople, and even the traffic cop. Frosty takes his leave when he realizes he has to hurry on his way, but not before saying a final goodbye and promising to come back another day. The song ends with the Moon Maids and Vaughan Monroe singing about how Frosty thumps over the hills of snow.
