Someone I Can Live for

Been reaching for a lifetime
Now I have you living inside
I'll take a ride on the wings you'll give me
And fly into your arms
'Cos you are someone I can live for
You are someone I can die for
Everyday I try to survive
Strip away self and my pride
Searching for the new man inside
I'll take a dive in the depths you give me
And fall into your arms
'Cos you are someone I can live for
You are someone I can die for
You, you're someone I can live for, you...
Been searching all my lifetime
Been reaching for a lifetime
Now I have you living inside
I'll take a ride on the wings you'll give me
And fly into your arms
'Cos you are someone I can live for
You are someone I can die for
You, you're someone I can live for, you...
I say you, I say you
I say you, I say you
The lyrics to yfriday's "Someone I Can Live For" express a deep sense of longing for a meaningful purpose or reason to live. The singer communicates that they have been searching their whole life for something or someone to give them direction and meaning. The lines "Been searching all my lifetime, Been reaching for a lifetime" communicate the idea that the singer has been searching for a long time, and has been reaching for something that they haven't yet found.
However, the singer is optimistic, as they have found someone who has given them a reason to live: "Now I have you living inside, I'll take a ride on the wings you'll give me, and fly into your arms." This person is the one who gives them direction and purpose, and the singer is willing to take risks with this newfound inspiration, diving into the "depths" and flying on the "wings" this person provides.
The chorus repeats the importance of this person to the singer's life, as they are "someone I can live for" and "someone I can die for." The singer is clearly devoted to this person, and sees them as essential to their life.
Overall, the song communicates a deep longing for direction and purpose as well as the hope that love and relationships can bring meaning to our lives.
