Do you have any recommendations for minimizing a scar from a cat scratch on the face? My cat launched off of my face last July, and left a pretty long scratch across my cheek. I've realized over time that it's a tricky place to treat a wound, because of how exposed it is, how much you move your face, and because of how sensitive that area is to specific creams and ointments.
During the initial healing phase, I put Neosporin on it (I wish I had seen this video first!) but it broke me out, so I stopped. I still continued to use my SPF every day, though.
I tried putting silicone strips on my cheek, but they wouldn't stay in place because my face gets so oily, and because of the face moment too. I also tried Mederma and a silicone scar gel, but those also broke me out.
I even went and got a micro-needling procedure done, but it made my skin so raw that I actually developed another scar on top of the cat scratch.
This has been incredibly frustrating, and I've given up at this point. The scratch isn't that bad, but it's still there and sometimes it turns red. There is a bit of depth to it as well.
Would acne scar treatments work for this type of scar? I haven't tried those at all, because I'm afraid of failure and wasted money again. Anyway, thanks for listening. Keep on making great content, I really do appreciate you guys for taking the time to educate us!

I had a partial thyroidectomy 19 years ago, before that incision was made on a wrinkle or line on the neck. This was back when it looked like you were partially decapitated 🙂. It did turn into a hypertrophic scar and somewhat darker. The scar has never bothered me so I just let it be. Almost 20 years later it’s barely noticeable. It’s lightened almost completely and it did flatten on its own. The ONLY thing I’ve always had a problem with is the sensation on the scar itself still to this day.
