In January 2007, after a stint in the Peace Corps, Moore decided to make a bold move in his music career by sending his unsolicited demo to Sub Pop Records. Moore's pensive yet optimistic songs caught Sub Pop's attention, and he soon had a record deal.
Moore's 2008 debut album, Stray Age, was recorded with the help of several highly regarded artists in Los Angeles, including Petra Haden, Jesca Hoop and producer Joe Chiccarelli. The album's gentle folk style and understated complexity help distinguish Moore as an artist to watch.
In 2010, Moore joined with fellow Kentucky musician Ben Sollee to record an album entitled Dear Companion, which was produced by and also features Jim James of My Morning Jacket and Monsters of Folk.
In 2011, Moore released a gospel album, In the Cool of the Day, which was inspired by an old in-house Steinway piano he played during a studio session at WXVU Radio in Cincinnati.

Let it be the one you need
Don't lose your way
Just for any old thing
It's not what you thought
It's not what you wanted to see
But spring in the land, and light in the day
Anyway
Anyway
Distant rumble, tattered and scared
There's no way to make it fair
What remains of who we are
And what's left of how we cared?
Slow down, steady now
Be here in this place
And hit your stride in your own time
Who's watching anyway?
Anyway
Anyway
The song "Anyway" by Daniel Martin Moore is a thoughtful reflection on the choices we make in life and the uncertainties that come along with them. The lyrics encourage listeners to make choices that are true to themselves and not to be swayed by external pressures. The opening lines of the song ("Make your choice, Let it be the one you need, Don't lose your way, Just for any old thing") set the tone for the rest of the song. Moore urges the listener to stay true to themselves and their values and not to be distracted by superficial things.
The middle section of the song ("It's not what you thought, It's not what you wanted to see, But spring in the land, and light in the day, Wasn't it good anyway?") acknowledges that life can be unpredictable, and that things often do not go according to plan. However, Moore suggests that even in the face of disappointment and uncertainty, there are still reasons to be grateful and to appreciate the beauty of the world around us. The chorus ("Anyway, Anyway") is a simple yet powerful reminder that life goes on, and that we must continue to move forward despite the challenges we face.
Overall, "Anyway" is a poignant and reflective song that encourages listeners to stay true to themselves and to appreciate the beauty of the world around them, even in the face of uncertainty and adversity.

Suits’ cast was my only family for the many years I was so lonely and depressed. Knowing that an episode was waiting for me to watch when I return home was like imagining a wife and kids of my own flesh and blood waiting for me to make me feel the warmth of a home with family members living in it.
