Anyway
Dubstar Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm moving out today I've nowhere else to stay so how many friends can I count on now?
And it's easier to stay But we know it happened anyway so what's the point?
The television's mine But you'll be keeping the cutlery and your awful bed this time
And it's easier to stay But we know it happened
Anyway so why pretend that this time we'll fight But it's really your right

It's easier to stay but I know you've done it anyway
I've found a place to No more words to the show So I'll leave you the keys this time
And it's easier to stay Yes it's easier to stay

You knew I'd hate you but you did it anyway
It's easier to stay but you've done it anyway So what's the point? There is no point...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Dubstar's song Anyway describe the aftermath of a breakup - the singer is moving out of the shared space because they have nowhere else to go. The first line "I'm moving out today, I've nowhere else to stay so how many friends can I count on now?" suggests a feeling of abandonment and loneliness. The second line "And it's easier to stay but we know it happened anyway so what's the point?" highlights the futility of holding on to a relationship that has already ended. The chorus "It's easier to stay but I know you've done it anyway, you knew I'd hate you but you did it anyway, so what's the point? There is no point..." emphasizes the inevitability of the breakup and the lack of purpose in pretending otherwise.

The second verse further highlights the division of belongings and the separation that comes with a breakup. The line "The television's mine, but you'll be keeping the cutlery and your awful bed this time" shows the division of property and the singer's unwillingness to stay in a place filled with memories of the relationship. The repetition of the line "And it's easier to stay but we know it happened anyway" further emphasizes the futility of holding on to something that has already ended.

Overall, the lyrics of Anyway convey the emotional turmoil and acceptance that comes with the end of a relationship. The singer recognizes the inevitability of the breakup and chooses to move on to a new place and a new chapter in their life.

I'll be around anywhere
Any place you want me
I'll be around anywhere
Any time I'm free

In time the stakes will change
Even predestination couldn't stay
I don't mind
I don't mind

I'll be around anywhere
Any place you want me
I'll be around anywhere
Any time I'm free

In time this place is mine
You know the inspiration in my smile
I don't mind
I don't mind

Leave it all behind
I don't mind

One of the 1990's lost tunes. Totally gorgeous song from the age of Britpop.

Always and forever, thank you to Great Britain and the British people whose creativity, since the 1960s, has given the rest of the World hundreds of unique bands such as the Dubstar and music of unparalleled beauty, quirkiness and atmosphere. What would our lives have been without British bands? Thank you. And love, admiration and adoration.
P.S.: "Disgraceful" is my favourite "girlish-sounding" album all of times and "Anywhere" one of the most "summerish-sounding" ones.
