Sing your rock and roll
Sing your blues
But I'm all right, you know I pay my dues
I got 'em comin' to me
You got 'em comin' to you
I'm gonna try again
Gonna try again anyway, yes I'm
Gonna try again anyway, yes I will
But I know you
You gonna be so cool
Ain't gonna try no sweet talkin'
I ain't no fool
But I know you love me girl
Just like I love you
Got my feet on the ground
I know what I got to do
I'm gonna try again
Don't matter if I win or lose
Gonna try again anyway, yes I will
Gonna try again anyway, yes I will
Do you know where you're goin'?
Honey where have you been?
Do you see this games they're playin'?
Do you really believe you can win?
I'm gonna try again
Don't matter if I win or lose
Gonna try again anyway, yes I will
Gonna try again anyway, yes I will
The lyrics of Manassas's song "Anyway" revolve around perseverance and determination in the face of obstacles. The singer begins by addressing a girl, asking her how she is and urging her to sing her rock and roll and her blues. Despite any difficulties or hardships, the singer assures her that he is "all right" and has paid his dues. The chorus repeatedly asserts that he will try again no matter what, win or lose, and that he knows what he needs to do. He acknowledges that there may be challenges and games to navigate, but he is resolved to keep moving forward.
The second verse shifts to address the girl more directly, acknowledging that she won't be swayed by smooth talk and that she loves him like he loves her. The bridge poses a few questions: do you know where you're going, where have you been, do you see the games they're playing, do you really believe you can win? These questions seem to reflect some existential uncertainty, but the overall tone of the song remains positive and determined. The repeated affirmations of trying again anyway suggest that the singer believes there is always a way forward, even if it's not immediately apparent.
This song conveys a hopeful message about persistence and grit in the face of adversity. The singer is determined to keep trying, no matter what, and encourages others to do the same. The lyrics are fairly straightforward, but there is a sense of optimism and determination that makes them resonate. The simple, bluesy melody and harmonies add to the overall feel of the song.
